I've spent over 20 years inside the betting industry. I'll guide you to avoid the hype, ignore the noise, and steer clear of the common pitfalls that catch out everyday punters.

  • Already bookmakers 4/1 favourite for Best Picture Oscar, 'Belfast' will be a huge hit on release
  • Betting sites go 5/1 for a Western Winner with Power of the Dog.
  • King Richard and Tragedy of Macbeth way down the betting odds.

The 94th Academy Awards will not take place until March 27th 2022 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and is the first time we will see them in March. They usually take place in April but have been rescheduled due to a clash with the Winter Olympics?

Not quite sure what the clash is, but still.

Released in November in the US and February '22 in the UK, 'Belfast' is already the 4/1 favourite with bookmakers to grab the Best Picture at the 94th Academy Awards in March in L.A

Whilst we have many months to discover the winners of the various categories, betting sites are ramping up the expectation by offering odds on the winners of several categories, one of the most popular being, 'Best Picture'

Academy Awards Betting: Best Picture Odds

Belfast 4/1 20.00%
The Power of the Dog 5/1 16.67%
Nightmare Alley 13/2 13.33%
Licorice Pizza 9/1 10.00%
West Side Story 14/1 6.67%
Dune 14/1 6.67%

Kenneth Branagh has described 4/1 favourite for the Oscar as his 'most personal film'. It is due for release in the US in November whilst British Audiences will have to wait until February 2022 to get to see it on the big screen.

First Western Winner Since 2007?

The Power of the Dog is a Western film vying for the first Best Picture Academy Award for the genre since the 2007 neo-Western crime thriller No Country for Old Men.

Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch who is nominated for Best Actor for the role he plays in the feature.

The Power of the Dog is given a 5/1 chance of picking up the Best Picture for a Western Movie for the first time since No Country for Old Men in 2007

Smith vs Washington

Whilst there is a tense fight between Will Smith and Denzil Washington in the Best Actor Oscars Betting, the two films in which they feature are down the betting.

King Richard and The Tragedy of Macbeth are both 16/1 chances to win Best Picture according to bookmakers.
