I've spent over 20 years inside the betting industry. I'll guide you to avoid the hype, ignore the noise, and steer clear of the common pitfalls that catch out everyday punters.
- Current Deputy Julian Warren touted as favourite to take over with bookies
- Conflicting betting odds from 10/1 to 100/1 on Chris Kamaras chance
- Kirsty Gallagher and Hayley McQueen in the running for the ladies
- Sky Presenter Pete Graves could slip into the role at 6/1
Following Jeff Stelling's announcement that he will be standing down as lead presenter of the ever-popular Soccer Saturday football show, speculation has begun as to who will replace him in the hot seat and betting sites have begun providing odds for punters on who want to bet on the Next Soccer Saturday presenter.
There seems to be little place for agreement with the affable Chris Kamara as short as 10/1 in some betting markets, and as big as 100/1 in others. The latter is probably right in all fairness.
Next Soccer Saturday Presenter Betting Odds
Candidate | Odds | Percentage Probability |
---|---|---|
Julian Warren | 5/1 | 16.67% |
Kirsty Gallagher | 6/1 | 14.29% |
Hayley McQueen | 6/1 | 14.29% |
Pete Graves | 6/1 | 14.29% |
Gary Lineker | 10/1 | 9.09% |
Jamie Redknapp | 20/1 | 4.76% |
Ian Wright | 33/1 | 2.94% |
Chris Kamara | 50/1 | 1.96% |
Kirsty Gallagher and Hayley McQueen both have Sky Sports work experience behind them in presenters roles and are more than able to hold together the fast-paced and at times comical Saturday afternoon football stint.
The show has been almost exclusively male presenters and guests since day 1, and it can be expected that the balance will be redressed at some point.
They will be competing against incumbent Sky Sports football presenters Julien Warren (5/1) and Pete Graves (6/1) for the chance to step into Stelling's shoes.
Less Likely
Chris Kamara might be one of the more popular guest reporters on the show and has stood in for Stelling in the past. The former Portsmouth and Leeds player and manager of Stoke City has been a popular figure in the show and is famous for his frequent gaffs which have the studio roaring.
He probably sits in the less likely category alongside Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker who is rumored to be leaving his BBC post, and Ian Wright, who personally I think would be great entertainment.
