Betting is now available on where the next Pope will hail from with the latest odds from bookmakers suggesting that the replacement for Pope Francis will come from Europe.

With four of the top five in the betting market to replace Francis all hailing from Europe, it's no surprise to see bookmakers give odds of 4/5 that the next Pope will be European.

The latest betting odds give an implied probability of 55% that the next Pope will be European a month after Pietro Parolin jumped to the top of the betting market to be the next Pope.

North America is second favourite with Canadian Mark Ouellet previously being 4/1 at the top of the betting to be the next Pope but recent allegations of sexual assault have changed that.

Cardinal Secretary of State for the Vatican Pietro Parolin remains the 4/1 favourite to be the next Pope after his odds were shortened just last month.

Parolin is considered by many to be a big player in the next Pope market as he stands as the current Pope's Secretary of State for the last decade.

Bookies have him slightly as the favourite in the market ahead of previous favourite Luis Antonio Tagle who is currently given a 16% chance of being Next Pope.
