I've spent over 20 years inside the betting industry. I'll guide you to avoid the hype, ignore the noise, and steer clear of the common pitfalls that catch out everyday punters.

  • Maxwell Thorpe wins 1st Semi-Final and Bookie makes him a firmer EVENS favourite to win outright
  • Vent Jamie Leahey joins him in the final as betting site halves his price from 20/1 into 9/1
  • Teacher Tom Ball didn't appear but still has shortened odds into 10/3 from 9/2 according to bookies.
  • 8 More acts compete for two more final places on Tuesday night at 8pm

Maxwell Thorpe predictably won the audience vote to be the winner of the first Semi-Final of Britain's Got Talent on Monday night and secured a position in the final, which saw betting sites shorten his price once again to just EVENS representing a 50% chance of overall victory. He was just 7/4 prior to the show but the bookmakers saw even more support after he was voted through and they had to cut his price

It looked predictable that Maxwell Thorpe would win the semi-final [he had the fire background] and so it transpired with bookmakers reacting by giving him a 50/50 chance of victory and crushing his price to win outright to just Evens. He is Joined by Ventriloquist Jamie Leahey whose odds more than halved from 20/1 into 9/1

After a judge's split decision between Magician Junwoo and young ventriloquist Jamie Leahey for the other place in the final on Sunday, we were taken to the public vote once again where the youngster from St Helens will take his chicken 'Chuck' with him to the finale.

Other BGT betting market movers on the night were Jamie Leahey as expected now his final place is secured coming in from 20/1 to just 9/1, and whilst he didn't perform, Teacher Tom ball remains second favourite as his odds were clipped into 10/3 from 9/2
