  • LadBaby would be going for a record 4th Consecutive Xmas no1 hit - Bookie run scared
  • Abba Include Christmas Song on Comeback Album - Will it be released and enter the betting?
  • Maria Carey sure to turn up in betting for top song with All I want for Christmas
  • Charity Songs are always a popular bet for Xmas number one

We are some way off finding out who is even in the running for the Christmas Number one chart position this year, let alone what betting sites have to say, but it could be a stand off between LadBaby and ABBA

Punters are always looking to get in as early as possible on betting on the Christmas Number One record.

In 2020 Ladbaby equaled the Spice Girls feat of three consecutive festive number one records, again in a charity format for the Trussel trust and will almost certainly have the Beatles four Xmas number one in their sights.

ABBA release their comeback album Voyage after 40 years out of the spotlight and it includes their first-ever festive recording.

We believe if bookmakers had betting odds open right now, LadBaby would be favourites ahead of ABBA as per our made up odds below.

Xmas Number 1 Betting

Artiste Odds* Probability**
LadBaby Evens 50%
ABBA 6/4 40%
Ed Sheeran 8/1 11%
Maria Carey 12/1 8%
Cliff Richard 100/1 1%

LadBaby

LadBaby are internet sensations Ladbaby and Ladbaby's wife Roxanne. The Midlands-based YouTubers scored their first Xmas number 1 in 2018 with a cover of StarShips 1985 hit We Built This City, re-recording it and replacing City with sausage rolls and switching up the lyrics to refer to the sausage meat-based snack throughout.

At that time it was unthinkable they could potentially record three consecutive festive chart-toppers and equal the record set by the Spice Girls with 2 Becomes 1, Too Much and Goodbye in 1996, 1997 & 1998 respectively.

It's unthinkable that LadBaby won't attempt a record-breaking 4th Consecutive Xmas number one with a Sausage Roll based Xmas hit and bookies will have them a short price to do so, but if ABBA releases a Christmas single, everything changes!

But LadBaby followed up We Built This City with another number One with I 'Love Sausage Rolls in 2019, a parody of Joan Jet's I love Rock and Roll, and then completed the hat trick last year with a cover of 'Don't Stop Believin', once again, centering around sausage Rolls with "Don't Stop me Eatin'"

There has yet to be any announcement on whether a 4th single will be released, but we are confident the temptation, much like that of a sausage roll, will be too much to avoid.

ABBA

We have not seen any new music from ABBA despite continued speculation year after year fr over 40 years now, however, a comeback album is and a virtual reality live tour is planned.

The comeback album will be the first original material Album from the Swedish quartet since 'Thie Visitors' was released and topped the Charts in 1981.

'Little Things' is the first Christmas Song ABBA has ever recorded and will be odds on with betting sites for the Christmas No1 Spot if released as a single from the album due out on 5th November.

ABBA's Voyager album will be released, complete with a Christmas recording on 5th November 2021. We are fully expecting the single to be released with a view to securing the top spot in the official music charts on December 25th.

Any confirmation that there will be an attempt at the no1 spot, will almost certainly make Abba favourites in the betting market.

Anyone Else?

Mariah Careys, 'All I Want for Christmas' and Wham's 'Last Christmas' are always around the charts at this time of year, so we can expect them to feature in the betting somewhere.

LadBaby has dedicated its song to charity for the last three years and would be expected to do so again, and Christ tunes have always been popular choices for release and challenge for the xmas position.

Cliff Richard is Christmas, right? He is 100/1 in our odds to have the number one song in 2021.

As soon as we have official notification of a Christmas Number one betting market, we will complete full coverage of the market and predictions of the probability of each candidate.

Charity singles have topped the charts at Christmas in 6 of the last 10 years, Bookmakers will be ODDS ON of another scoring the top spot in 2021.
