American actor Driver has been a big name amongst fans of Potter for a number of months since the HBO series was announced due to his similar characteristics to Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape.

Harry Potter series set to air on HBO in 2026
The latest updates around the HBO Harry Potter series show a casting call made for its Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
That casting call states that the actors must be between the ages of 9 and 11 in April 2025 which points towards production on the show starting then.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has previously hinted that the show will air in 2026 and that could well be the case with the end of that year provisionally pencilled in.
CEO and Chairman of HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys has also stated that he sees the series airing on their platform at the end of 2026 or even in 2027.
