Steven Spielberg is the 2/5 favourite to win Best Director for his film The Fabelmans at the Golden Globes

The 2023 Golden Globes takes place on Tuesday evening and Steven Spielberg remains the betting favourite with bookies to win Best Director at the awards show.

Spielberg's movie The Fabelmans is a semi-autobiographical story based on his younger years as a filmmaker and has received massive success critically.

Paddy Power make Spielberg the 2/5 favourite, giving him a 71% chance of winning the award which he has won twice before, for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List.

Golden Globes - Best Director Odds Probability
Steven Spielberg (The Fabelmans)
2/5 71.4%
Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere All At Once) 7/2 22.2%
James Cameron (Avatar: The Way of Water) 7/2 22.2%
Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin) 9/1 10.0%

James Cameron's Avatar sequel was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and that has seen his odds tumble down to 7/2 to win Best Director.

The popularity of the film has caused Cameron's odds to come down from the 15/2 that he was at just last week for the big award.

Bookies now make Steven Spielberg is 2/5 to win the Best Director award at the Golden Globes this week for a third time! Spielberg has won the award previously for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List and The Fabelmans looks to give him a massive chance of doing so again.

The Banshees of Inisherin is 9/4 to win Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical just behind Everything Everywhere All At Once which is 4/9 favourite for the award.
