David De Gea is now 1/2 to sign for Bayern Munich this summer

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is now just 1/2 with bookies to join Bayern Munich this summer with the player reportedly an option for the club in the current window.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg reported on Wednesday morning that De Gea has given the green light for a move to Bayern Munich as he still is without a club.

Bayern's priority though is for Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega with De Gea the option if Ortega doesn't decide to join Bayern this summer.

The latest betting odds though say that there's a 66% chance that De Gea does sign for Bayern this summer with the club looking for a keeper since Yann Sommer left for Inter Milan.

De Gea left Manchester United after 12 years at the club at the end of last season

Despite reports at the time that David De Gea was set to sign a new contract at Manchester United, the Spanish keeper confirmed he was leaving the club after 12 years back in July.

Months of speculation at the end of the season pointed at a new contract being singed but it looked like terms were unable to be agreed between the club and 32-year-old eventually.

Erik Ten Hag then turned his attentions to Andre Onana and signed him as the club's new Number 1 leaving De Gea without a club and that has remained the same ever since.

Saudi Arabia move could still be on the cards for the Spanish goalkeeper

David De Gea has also been linked with a move to Cristiano Ronaldo's Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr with reports that they are insistent on signing the keeper.

The transfer window in Saudi Arabia is open until September 20th so it may be that the signing doesn't happen until then if he was to move to there.

Spanish paper Marca have reported that De Gea could be on the move to Saudi Arabia as the next step of his career.
