Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's latest movie Black Adam was released today, Friday 21st October, and is expected to do well at the Box Office.

Bookies make the movie as big as 16/1 to be the highest grossing film of 2022 though with three films ahead of it in the market.

With Paddy Power giving it just a 5.9% chance of heading the gross market this year, it may not do as well as Warner Bros. Pictures will hope.

Top Gun: Maverick remains the bookmakers favourite at 4/9

Tom Cruise movie Top Gun: Maverick remains the 4/9 favourite with bookmakers to be the highest grossing film of the year.

So far at the Box Office the movie has made $1,482,877,52 and it'll take something special from Avatar 2 to surpass that in such a short space of time.

Top Gun: Maverick is by far the biggest film of Tom Cruise's career with more than $1.4b taken at the Box Office.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout was Cruise's previous highest grossing film with $791m earned globally but that's been surpassed by Top Gun: Maverick.

Avatar 2 is 2/1 second favourite to smash the Box Office and be highest grossing movie of 2022

Avatar 2, the sequel to James Cameron's Box Office Hit Avatar, remains 2/1 in the betting odds to be the highest grossing film of 2022.

The first Avatar film has the highest all-time Box Office grossing with $2,847,397,339 being taken worldwide by the film.

Avatar 2 won't be released until half way through December so has just two weeks to topple Top Gun from the top of the grossing figures.
