Angela Rayner holds multiple positions in the Opposition, including current deputy leader and Shadow First Secretary of State and has most recently been taking Boris Johnson to task about violating financing rules after using a government-funded plane to fly to the North.
She has an impressive rise to her current and future potential roles having left school unqualified and gaining care worker and British Sign language qualification from attending college part time.
Burnham Still Bookies Favourite
Andy Burnham has once before campaigned to be Labour Leader following Ed Milliband's resignation in 2015. He was beaten comfortably by Jeremy Corbyn but accepted as Shadow cabinet position of Shadow Home Secretary, before eyeing the Greater Manchester Mayors' position, for which he stood down his position in 2016 and became Mayor in 2017.
He has been as short as 2/1 to become the next Labour Leader after Kier Starmer, but with recent support for Angela Rayner, his odds have drifted a little to 11/4. In terms of probability, his chance has therefore slipped from 30%, to just around 25% right now.
Strong Female Charge for the Leadership
Not only has Andy Burnham to consider Angela Rayner on his shoulder for the position, but bookmaker also have two further women behind, making 3 of the top 4 betting candidates for Labour Leader female.
Both Lisa Nandy (10/1) and Yvette Cooper (18/1) are next in the betting with Sadiq Khan a distant next best at 25/1 and only a 3% chance at the current betting odds.
