Following the resignation of the Tory councilor holding the seat, Aughton and Swallownest residents go to the polls this Thursday to vote upon the replacement and Labour candidate Robert Taylor is expected the win the seat for Labour and gain from the previous Tory councilor.
Bookmakers are going as short as 4/5 in the betting, providing Taylor with a better than 55% chance of a win on Thursday.
Helen Mitchell is standing for the conservatives, but has been made the second favorite by betting sites, with odds of 2/1 on offer,
Whilst Gavin Shawcroft (10/1) of Rotherham Democratic Party and Dennis Bannan (20/1) for Yorkshire Party look both to be only making up the numbers.

Aughton and Swallownest Info
Aughton and Swallownest ward is in the south-central part of Rotherham with a population of 6,372 (2019 estimate).
Although the ward covers a large rural area, most people live in the suburban areas of Aughton and Swallownest, along with the village of Ulley (population 163) and the southern tip of Orgreave parish.
This will be the second by-election for this ward in 2021, residents having already gone to the polls back in May.
