Jennifer Lopez tops the betting market to take over from Katy Perry as the next American Idol judge
Bookies have now made Jennifer Lopez the 6/4 favourite to replace Katy Perry as a judge on American Idol after previously starring on the show for five seasons.
Lopez, 54, debuted as a judge all the way back in 2011 on season 10 of the hit show and reports in the Daily Mail back in February said that she may well be on her way back to the panel.
Those Mail reports said that, "When people come back, things work... people like nostalgia, and people like Jen" which could well put her as the clear frontrunner to return to the show.
The latest odds give an implied probability of 40% that Lopez will head back to Idol for the next season to replace the departing Perry and sit alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

Perry departs Idol after six years and seven seasons on the show
Katy Perry has left American Idol after seven seasons as a judge saying that she feels connected to America so she wants to tour again and take her daughter with her.
Appearing on Jimmey Kimmel back in February, Perry said, "“Well, you know, this fall, this September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio. It’s really exciting. It’s a big deal for people all over the world, especially my Brazilian fans,” Perry said, adding, “So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol.”
This came as a big shock at the time with the announcement coming out of nowhere but now bookies have a full market in place around who will replace her on the show.

Former Idol winner Kelly Clarkson also appears in the betting market as third favourite
Kelly Clarkson won the first ever series of American Idol all the way back in September 2002 which thrust her straight into stardom in the US.
Since then she's become a massive pop star and even has her own show in America which has great ratings too and she could become a judge on the show where he became famous.
Clarkson has appeared as a mentor on the show in the past and has also been a judge, or coach as they call it, on The Voice US and she's now 3/1 to be a judge on Idol.
