The Mountaineer Park Racetrack first opened its gates in 1951 under the then-named Waterford Park.

It was then changed to Mountaineer Park in 1987. The racetrack is located in New Cumberland, West Virginia.

The racetrack consists of two courses. There is an inner turf course which is a seven-furlong oval. Then we have an outer dirt course which is a one-mile oval.

The track can be one of the busiest with racing sometimes running from March through to December and with four to five meetings each week.
