The Del Mar racetrack is located in Del Mar, California. This is the second-largest racetrack in the Western US behind Santa Anita.
Opened in 1937 this racetrack is known for the slogan 'Where The Turf Meets The Surf'.
The turf track here is a seven-furlong oval which is surrounded by a one-mile oval dirt course.
Racing takes place between July and September while the highlight of the season is the Pacific Classic taking place in August.
As a result, racing takes place five times a week running from Wednesday through to Sunday.
