Looks a very open-looking race, but hopefully this one can go close after moving back to his former stable. He could be very hard to beat if learning to settle better after finishing a creditable 1L 4th of 14 to 'Society Man' at Kempton (7f) on the AW in a Class 4 Handicap last month. On that evidence, off the same mark with Billy Loughnane back on board.

Four career runs for the 3yo. Three narrow defeats on the AW, form 312. He made his handicap debut on turf early last month but didn’t fire. Plenty of winners have come out of his AW races. He’ll be fresh after an eight week break, good low draw, good jockey booking, still unexposed and ticks all the right boxes.

My Win selection for this one is UNITED APPROACH, who drops significantly in class from strong Kempton and Newcastle handicaps where he posted the best 7f AW figures in this field (RPR 96 and 92 in Class 2/3 company). Now runs off 82, a full 6 to 14lbs below those marks and well below his peak RPR of 99, making him exceptionally well handicapped. His recent Doncaster heavy ground flop is entirely forgivable as he was never travelling on a surface that blunted his strengths. Returns to 7f AW, his proven optimum conditions where he ran a big third at Kempton in an 81 to 95 handicap behind Yorkshire and Blue Prince. Comments show he dwells early then finishes strongly, wanting a well run 7f exactly what today's strong pace provides. Draw 5 is ideal to drop in and angle out in the straight. His closing style suits the likely solid gallop perfectly. Drop in grade, lenient mark, proven ability, ideal conditions and perfect race setup.

Diamondonthehill has won 6 of his 49 starts and has been placed in 15 other starts. This is only his second start at Wolverhampton, his first being in January when he was 3rd in a Class 4 at big odds. His last win was at Lingfield in April off 83, and back down to the same mark and with Rossa Ryan riding, he looks like a good EW bet with 4 places on offer.

Having won twice at this course, she finished 5th in a handicap at Southwell 3 weeks ago after a stable change. A return to this track, where she has excelled, could be beneficial, and an each-way bet could be a smart choice at this new distance.

THIS FARH ran well on his only other run on this surface at the beginning of the year and has generally run consistently well in the majority of the runs since then. He has done well after similar times off track, so I'm not concerned by the two-month absence, and he still looks to be at a workable mark.
