Dapper Guest has already beaten a bunch of older rivals and can do that again this afternoon. He did it from the back last time in Chelmsford, which is not an easy task. He can apply the same tactic from the wide draw today.

MORTE POINT has been in fine form of late, including winning LTO at Chelmsford, and looks value at head of the market. Dapper Guest is up in class after a success at Chelmsford earlier this month, however G Margarson’s 5% SR (A/E 0.43) in C1-3 makes his charge easy enough to oppose, meanwhile this is Angel Hunter’s first go on the sand and it’s no guarantee he’ll take to it. G Tutty does poorly with LTO runners-up (5% SR, A/E 0.29) so One Night Thunder can be opposed and Eldrickjones looks too high in the handicap to be threatening today. This is a competitive little heat and you could look for an outsider but the jolly is a horse on the improve and I’m expecting him to take another step forward here. The son of Due Diligence was short of room at a crucial point at Chelmsford but still managed to pull clear by 2l and a 3/4l 2nd of 16 in the City Of Doncaster handicap last month backs up his promise. DD’s 52% SR (A/E 1.61) with 3yo favourites and L Edmunds’ 48% SR (A/E 1.54) on favs in Autumn adds further confidence. 10/3 taken.

Eldrickjones last won in May off an 82 in C3 but has been mainly running in C2 since. However, he was placed in the only two other runs in C3 on turf, with the latest in August only missing out by a neck off a 90. He has dropped to an 88 and gets Kevin Stott this time.

Triumphed at Haydock 34 days prior, yet placed 10th in a handicap at Leicester just 16 days ago, faltering when encountering difficulties. He returns to Southwell, where he boasts 5 victories at this C&D, 3 of which occurred this year. A formidable competitor who shouldn't be overlooked, but at 16/1, I would recommend playing it safe and opting for an each-way bet at these odds.

Second last time, lack of room when finishing, beaten favorite, distance no problem. Should be there at the business end of the race. Has to be considered a great each way shot at 9/1. Nap Each Way.

The 5yo is in good form, going very close in three of his last four races since early August. The switch to the AW today could bring about some improvement. Three wins on the AW and proven on this surface. He was rated around 10lb higher this time last year, plus he has a good apprentice in the saddle tonight claiming 5lb. He looks overpriced.

Has come back to form in recent weeks. Has won off a higher mark even though it was a couple of years ago. Worth an each-way bet.

Has not raced much this year but has the ability to feature back to this level. Dropped a couple of pounds and is way in on the weights.
