Tarbat Ness typically runs a measured pace, and even when the race is running at a steady speed, his great stamina allows him to overtake tired rivals in the final quarter mile. He moves up to Class 4 after a comfortable win in Class 5. His handicap has been increased by 7 pounds due to his recent six-length victory. He is a long-distance specialist currently in top form. He has won three of his last four races, including two consecutive victories at Newcastle.

Appier is reliable with excellent recent form and looks well placed to strike again. He won by half a length before running another cracker in third last time, beaten 3 lengths despite racing too freely in front. Now eased 1 lb to 74 with the hood keeping him right there. His record on the AW is 4 from 14, so I expect a smooth run and a strong finish in a race that should suit his grinding style here.

Has just his 3rd run for Williams and drops 3 lb here. He was rated a stone higher less than a year ago, so looks to have a decent each-way chance here.
