Alcarath looks capable of being involved at the finish and may be worth another chance after a slightly disappointing effort at Newbury Racecourse last time out. Racing in a Class 3 handicap over 1m2f, he finished 4th, beaten 4L off 88 in a 0-95 contest. He did not enjoy the smoothest passage, breaking less than ideally and being held up off a pace dominated by those ridden prominently. The first three home raced close to the lead, making Alcarath the best of those coming from further back. Prior to that, he finished 5th in a strong Class 2 handicap at Newmarket Racecourse. The first four home were rated 99, 101, 94 and 97, while Mister Winston, who finished 2L behind Alcarath in sixth, has since won and is now rated 103. Perhaps the most compelling piece of form came last season at Epsom Downs Racecourse over 1m2f, where he won by 8½L from Gamrai, now rated 99. Dropped 1 lb and returning in a 0-90 handicap, Alcarath looks well treated on his best form and should be a serious contender.

Weakened inside the final furlong over this trip at Windsor last time out when beat 2.25 lengths off a mark of 92. Will strip fitter for 3 runs this year following a 5 month absence and drops to an attractive mark of 90.

Ran to form back from a break but unsuited by drop in trip. Beaten 2L off this mark at Epsom last time. Effective 10/12f. Acts on any ground but does like a bit of five. Consistent sort, likely to be in the mix again each way. NAP
