HARRY BROWN won over C&D in a decent time off this mark five starts back in October, and I could easily see this race panning out in a similar way. Timeform have forecast a strong pace on their pace map, which should suit the selection perfectly. From stall 2, I’m expecting him to be dropped in against the rail, sitting 4th or 5th before being produced late when those forcing it up front begin to tire. He’s a four-time C&D winner, so it’s clear he really likes it here. I’ve weighed him up against his rivals at the weights and, provided he gets a clear run, he shouldn’t be far away. Each-way at 9/1??'10/1, with 4 places available from one of the 11 firms paying extra places in this 12-runner race.

Dark Sun came narrowly 2nd by a head last time out at Lingfield 24 days ago. Up 1lb from that and returns to course and distance.

The 7 lb claimer booked on this one has been posting some terrific stats on the AW. The horse's only previous run here was a staying-on 2nd over a furlong less when getting within a length of the winner, who has since won off a 12 lb higher mark. Spendmore Lane, on the other hand, is 4 lb lower and, with that jockey's claim, should go very close.

Hadn't seen a racetrack for 397 days when 7th of 11 in a Class 5 over a furlong further at Kempton on the 19th of January. Will come on for that run and should welcome the drop in trip and ease in grade.

This veteran has won twice over course and distance and is back down to his last winning mark. He ran a good second last time out, and with Luke Morris booked, things look right for an each-way punt.

Roman Emperor is tricky to win with, but did when Stevie Donohoe was on board for his last win at Yarmouth in the summer. He just missed out a couple of times here just before Christmas, and one of those was over this distance. They both came from a pound lower in the weights, so there's potential from this handicap mark and plenty of place form in the locker too.
