Flightofthephoenix is a 4-year-old gelding rated 50 who shaped with promise when staying on for fourth, beaten 3 lengths over 7f here last time, showing more spark in first-time cheekpieces. He remains lightly raced and is effective at this trip on the all-weather, so could build on that effort with a clearer run and is worth a second look.

This 4yo has been dropped a generous 4 lb since only her second handicap last time out, which was clearly over too far a trip. She is back to what looks to be her best trip now, and the cheekpieces go on for the first time. She wasn't actually beaten that far when fluffing the start on her only previous run over C&D, and those horses around her would make her nearer to a 75 horse on that evidence (she races off 70 here). So a decent start could see her go closer this time, especially with the jockey arguably being an upgrade too.

She is appearing to be slightly off the boil. With a solid rating foundation, the models indicate strength. An outstanding mathematical overlay.

Lenny's Spirit did not reappear until December, having notched up two wins at this venue on the turf course last summer. He looked tapped for toe over a mile last time at Wolverhampton. He won four times over 10 furlongs, and his last win was over a mile and a half. With Dream Pirate stepping up to ten furlongs, Lenny's Spirit is proven at the trip, and he might be able to bring his stamina into play towards the finish off a fair handicap mark.

Annexation got his latest win at Nottingham back in October off a similar rating. At 10 years old he still competes well. Each way looks like good value at 26.00.
