5:35 Leicester Tips

This gelding has hit a bit of form recently, 121. He has C&D, going, and class wins over his career. He ran nearly a month ago, so I'm hoping that Camacho has freshened him up for this one.

Winner at Pontefract in July. Mostly struggled since but is coming back down the weights and drops back into class 5 this afternoon so of interest on that basis.

Beaten just over a length last time out. The winner has gone in again, so the form has been franked. Racing consistently, and first-time visor may see improvement.

Beaten favorite who ran prominently over the shorter distance last time out while keeping on. Switching back to six furlongs should suit better.

This season he has been competing in tougher races than this, showcasing one of his best performances when he finished 3rd at Chester in his penultimate outing. However, he then had a disappointing run, placing 10th in a handicap at Ayr just a week ago. A drop to class 5 could benefit him, especially with the soft ground that he prefers. At 12/1, the odds present a great opportunity for an each-way bet on this distance winner.

Just two runs this year for the 8yo, after joining a new yard. He ran a respectable race over this 6f C/D, two weeks ago, staying on nicely and was not given a hard time. It should set him up nicely for this handicap and he might be given a more positive ride off this 3lb lower mark. He ran a few nice races this time last year while rated much higher.

The forecast ground is good to soft, and providing it's no better than that, I'd suggest this horse shouldn't be the rank outsider in the field at 33/1. He's been racing on ground that has been too lively lately, and the combination of the softer ground along with the rebooking of Hector Crouch makes me think he could be worth a bet. Crouch was the last jockey to win on the horse, which was on good to soft and was off a 7lb higher mark. He's clearly well handicapped on that form, and confidence would increase with any further rain.
