4:20 Goodwood Tips

Three career runs for the 2yo colt. He was a close 2nd of 13 on his debut during May over this 6f trip, splitting two rivals now rated 91 and 95. Excuses at Royal Ascot in a Group 2 over 5f when missing the break. He was a cozy 13-runner maiden winner three weeks ago over 6f, much better than the official 2L+ winning margin. His opening handicap mark of 86 for this contest looks very handy.

Three turf starts with three second-placed finishes, including here on debut last month. That run was on soft ground, so with the forecast rain, any change in ground will not be an issue. Every chance to get the first win.

Won well over 6 furlongs on racecourse debut at Windsor but raced as if something was amiss at Royal Ascot in the Coventry, also over 6 furlongs, and as evidenced by being restless in the stalls. Worth another chance on the strength of that first race and likely to welcome the step up in trip.

Amazing Journey and Sir Albert arrive in good form and are both lightly raced. The former is definitely on an upward trajectory after winning her two turf runs, but in a lower grade than Sir Albert, who won off a much higher rating in a better race last time. The latter swings it on that for me.

Unexposed colt with a potent finishing kick. Pace of race should play to his strengths. He is selected to complete a hat-trick on his second handicap start.

I'm a little worried by the weather after picking out most of my tips today not knowing about this heavy rain, but i'm hoping it won't be a problem for Goldwork. Wrong tactics lto, but won well here over 6f the race before and as i said yesterday when just missing out on a 100-1 place from this trainer (came 1/2l 4th) she has some great 2yo's and is always over-looked. Just hope i've picked the right one here.

Likes to go from the front as they did in a decent class 3 handicap @ Chester Lto, so this track is ideal for those tactics. Good draw, world class jockey booked and very good trainer likes to have winners here just like his father did, making current 11/1 very good Ew value in the race.

Showed improvement when upped to 7f on nursery debut, finishing a solid runner-up at Leicester. Saw out the trip well that day, but this is a much tougher assignment. This is the 18/1 on offer. Still an encouraging each-way shot with Hollie Doyle on board.

Her last 2 runs give reason for optimism that, at the very least, she can be competitive in her handicap debut. It's a tricky mark made even trickier by going up 2 classes, but it does look like she has ability.
