4:00 Fontwell Tips

Wrapped up the previous term on a high night, achieving success at this C&D with a first-time visor in March. Showed more promise than the results suggested in his initial two outings this season, then rallied to finish fourth at Chepstow 15 days ago. I expect he will perform well with an increase in distance, and the appealing odds of 11/1 appear to be fair for an each-way wager.

2nd twice here recently on both heavy ground and on good ground in Class Five company. Most recent run was after a 598-day break, so should run fitter this time around. This looks an open race, but a lot of those at the top of the market are carrying excess weight, giving a decent chance here.

I Play County goes well fresh and has three wins from six races, including a PTP in his only attempt in that code. He has been off since March of last year and has had a wind operation in the meantime. He has had enough time to recover. The yard is in good form with two places from three runners these last two weeks and has been in the frame with five of his eight horses here at Fontwell this season. Up in trip today, but he has a win in a PTP over three miles, so hopefully he will be fully tuned up for this season's opener.

Well-backed horse. A bumper winner that has shown plenty of promise. Came third last time out, and that form has been franked with the winner winning again.

Casts Tasha looks a really good bet tomorrow. Ran a cracker on her seasonal debut. She will enjoy the ground and distance, having won over further in previous runs. The jockey is four wins from 16 rides for Ben Clarke, with two seconds and four thirds.

Although my nap runs in this race, Stuart Edmunds' recruit could surprise. Backed on his debut for the yard, he could improve.

May be considered fortunate to have won last time over today's course and distance with the demise of three rivals at the third last, but Bradman was bang in the mix at the time and could do no more than win. Fortunately, the handicapper has only put him up two pounds. While this is a better race, he gets lumps of weight from all his rivals and can take full advantage.

Kajikia is a top contender from Paul Nicholls' yard, with a near-perfect record of 1 win and 1 second that marks him as progressive. He broke his maiden first time before running an excellent second under a penalty at Plumpton. That form has been franked in Grade 2 company, confirming he's better than most here, in my opinion.

Calshot Spit returned from a break last month and came straight in with a win here on heavy. As I always expect more when second up, I think he is worth a chance while stepping up in grade to C4. He looks to have improved since his last attempt at 2m4f, and he could be ready for 2m3f today. EW 4P

Motazzen was yet to be asked a question when brought down three out over course and distance on Boxing Day in the race won by Bradman. He could bounce back to form off the same mark.

Change of stable has shown marked improvement. Placed twice recently, travelling well until speed was needed. Up in trip today could help. Each-way shout.

Lexie's Moon brings good handicap form despite that laboured Sedgefield effort. Her proven record on similar soft going tells me that she can mount a serious challenge back at 2m3f. Won twice in very similar company and placed off this 102 mark before, so she's competitively weighted here.

Did not run well last time at Hereford, but has shown the ability with a win at Exeter. Now only three pounds worse off.
