Dropped back to a mile last time at Goodwood when narrowly losing out racing off a mark of 93. Been raised a couple of lbs since but still looks to have decent claims going back up in trip.

Alpha Crucis looks fairly easy to oppose here given A Lewis’s 2/16 record (A/E 0.65) on soft/heavy ground and the gelding’s 0/5 record over the trip. Next up CROWD QUAKE makes the most appeal against; the son of Night Of Thunder has been incredibly busy this season (13 runs) but is clearly a horse on the up given he’s won 7 of those, placed on a further four occasions and is running off a mark 42lb higher than when he started his campaign in April. The ground won’t be a concern, particularly with M Ghiani jocked up (18% SR, A/E 1.33 on soft/heavy) and he brings a handful of positive stats; most notable being a 34% SR (A/E 1.46) on fancied 4yo’s and 35% SR (A/E 1.6) on runners carrying up to 8-11. 9/2 taken.

Grey Cuban. He is going to either be firing on all cylinders after his recent win with only a 2 lbs rise, or he is going to be poor. There seems to be no in-between. He has the credentials here though: C&D winner, likes soft ground, jockey retains ride.

The suggested wager is for the each way on the 4-year-old gelding Sportingsilvermine from the James Owen yard, and will be ridden by Sean B Bowen. This son of Holy Roman Emperor is knocking on the door for his next win in a big way. He has everything going for him here and it would be a surprise not seeing him challenge for top honors here.

Worth taking a chance on this outsider. Not raced on heavy ground for a couple of years, but handled it well enough when 4th in The Lincoln here in 2023. Didn't stay the 13f+ last time, and bringing him back to 10f here should help.
