2:30 Catterick Tips

Has been in good form on the all-weather with three wins from the last four starts and finished a good second on return to turf last week. Step up to 7f should suit, and likely to be there or thereabouts.

Asian Journey, 5-year-old bay gelding. 4th last time out at this track. Down in grade, 2-pound drop in the weights, and a 5-pound claimer aboard all point to him having a decent chance here.

Won at Thirsk last year and placed four times after that. Poorly drawn when fifth at Thirsk last time. Each-way selection today.

I like this horse today for a number of reasons. Firstly, his mark has fallen to what should prove competitive. Secondly, he drops in class into a C6. Third, and for me perhaps most important, is the jockey booking. This is an apprentice handicap, and I rate Mason Paetel as one of the most promising up-and-coming riders. Everything seems right for a good run.

Two-time past course and distance winner and has tumbled down the handicap. She ran her best race for a long time last time out when finishing third at Ayr. A repeat of that gives her a good each-way shout.

Crocodile Power is back at his favourite track. Though a bit disappointing here last time, if we get the forecast rain at Catterick overnight the going will be more to his liking. Hopefully we can see an improvement on that last run.

Off these weights now, I don't think Without Delay is entirely out of this. He tried this race last year off a much higher mark and has just recently turned up in a decent race, so maybe he's a placer at least. Lauren Young is the jockey up and knows how to get them home, albeit for a retained trainer. EW.
