A big run two weeks ago on his return from a six-month break when finishing second, hitting the front inside the final 2f but caught in the last 0.5f. Same mark for this handicap, and every chance he can take a step forward. He was rated quite a bit higher last year.

Green Pursuit looks capable of running a big race on his third start of the season and now drops into a more suitable grade. After returning from a 158-day break with a below-par effort at Doncaster Racecourse, he showed much more encouragement last time out at Thirsk Racecourse in a Class 4 Handicap over 7f. He finished 5th, beaten just 2¼ lengths off 74 in a race where the first four home were all rated 80 or higher, making the run look solid in the context of this contest. There is also enough in last season’s form to suggest his current mark is workable. He finished 2nd over this course and distance at Carlisle Racecourse on soft ground off 74, beaten only ½ length by a horse now rated 80. He also ran well at Chester Racecourse when 4th behind Miraculous and was narrowly denied by the now 86-rated American Style. A previous win at Catterick Racecourse over 6f also confirms ability. Now down to 72 and dropping into a Class 5 Handicap, Green Pursuit looks to hold strong claims.

8 lb below last winning mark, which was at Newcastle on the all-weather. Previous course and distance winner and can return to winning ways, as the horse clearly likes it at Carlisle.
