Being gelded has worked the oracle, and he is 2 for 2 since the removal. Followed up last time looking much better than a lowly handicapper. Form of race has since been franked and is one to bet on, 7lb higher.

Hard going 5f at Carlisle feels more like a 6f run, which suits this filly's profile (solid 6f form and prior 5f win on good to firm ground). She's proven at Class 5 and returns to favored turf after a forgive-and-forget run last time out.

On Key is in stall 5 for trainer Julie Camacho with Tom Kiely-Marshall taking 5lb off. He has 11 runs with wins and 5 places, giving a 45% place rate. He races here off 69, which looks a little high as he has been knocking on the door without breaking through. The hood goes on for the first time, which may help him settle, and he has shown he can handle a range of ground, including the AW. The draw is fine, and he should get cover before being delivered late.

MEMPHISATMIDNIGHT has been running well enough this year, without really progressing. Beaten by Promise Time here latest, but not by far and has a significant pull in the weights. What makes Tim Easterby's runner the bet, though, is the addition of first-time blinkers. Will they work? That we can't answer in advance, but they might, and that is reason enough for a small interest at a double-figure price.
