Jim Goldie, trainer of Water Of Leith, has a good winning record in Ayr races. Recent races for the horse have been at 6 furlongs, and dropping to 5 furlongs suits his speed. With a win at 5f, the horse has the best trainer and even jockey.

South Parade has dropped nearly 20 pounds in the ratings since the start of the season and has had a run of poor efforts. He was at his peak last season around this time of year, and I thought there were definite signs of him coming back to form at Musselburgh last Friday. Pacey sort who should be able to lead in this company. Has a good draw in stall 1 and could take some catching.

Has won over course distance before off this mark and should've finished closer to adding a 2nd last time out but did not have the clearest of runs.Finished a neck 2nd in this race last year off a 9 lb higher mark. Should have a decent each-way chance 11 lbs below his last winning mark.

Startling has won over this distance. She has been well backed in her last three races and was BF in her last race when finishing 2nd at this course. She likes to front-run, and if she gets a good lead today and sets a strong pace, she could be hard to catch and pass.

A chance here is taken with this 3-year-old filly. She is running in her second handicap race after winning her first one and has only gone up 2 pounds for that victory. This filly looks to be a strong stayer. With a few prominent runners in this race, it could be set up for her to come on the scene late. The yard obviously likes this race, winning it three times in the last five years. She is unexposed, and with the trainer and jockey having an £82.67 profit from a £1 stake over 203 rides, she definitely has a chance.

Falcon Queen looks an interesting each-way shout at a big price. She's capable of better than her recent figures suggest and the return to 5f could suit her speed. If she gets a good tow into the race, she has the pace to be involved late and could outrun her odds.
