Been a while since they visted the winners enclosure, but has run some good races in defeat since and was only beaten 5.75 lengths on return run, when slowly away away then forced to race wide, coming 15/18 in similar level handicap @ Galway Festival. Down another 1lb here so is becoming nicely handicapped again, good apprentice retains ride taking off 5lb and in hands of a shrewd trainer, making current 28/1 decent Ew value here.

This selection's best effort to date was a 2nd place finish over the distance of 8.5 furlongs. Racing around 7.5 furlongs in today's contest, hopeful ground will suit. Gary Carroll is retained and has each-way appeal.

GLYNDWR is not ridden by Colin Keane for Ger Lyons which would be a small concern. Instead ace in-form 7lb claiming apprentice Nicola Burns takes the ride and this is an upwardly-mobile pilot is attracting attention from a variety of outside yards. This three year old has the cheek pieces fitted a possibly sign of intent and he rates the value play.

I like this one for a few reasons. The distance is fine, the turf is fine, and the jockey is competent. The fact that there are a few places available here as well (6 in areas) makes a strong case for a profit.

Eight year old gelding Free Solo had slipped down to his lowest ever mark of 62 in May at the Curragh whereupon he beat a field of 25 runners in a 7f apprentice handicap leading 150 yards out and pulling away by three lengths. He was pushed up eight pounds for the win and is still on 70 for this race but has looked competitive in all four runs since off 70 or 71 and should go close again with Ben Coen taking over the ride.

Tentative each-way selection as he tries tongue strap/blinkers combo for the first time. He was beaten just over half a length on seasonal reappearance in May from this mark and was also placed from this mark last year. So at 40s, and 4 places, there may be a bit of value here.

My first pick is now a non-runner, but I'd already had a Dutch bet on Smaoineamh Sile, which just kept on bugging me for no reason. Long overdue, that's for sure.
