Distance winner Spanish Maid has won its last two starts. Last time out, the horse won over 2 miles at Punchestown by a neck.

Piccolo Player was fifth at Ballinrobe last time and has winning form over this trip in the past. The yard have a good record with their runners here and a big run is expected from the selection.

Struck Oil is currently 2nd favourite but I have reason to believe nearer race time he will drift significantly. Trained by Gavin Cromwell, this experienced 5-year-old came a close 3rd in his last outing and was not disgraced. He prefers the softer ground more than the favourite.

7yo irish gelding Moylussa was a good 3rd of 15 lto over 2m at Ballinrobe. He makes his chase debut here today off a fair mark and he could easily surprise here today on his dayview over fences.

This 5-year-old has shown impressive progress over fences, recently securing a fast-finishing 3rd place at Limerick last month. His stable is currently in excellent form, and he remains competitively handicapped, positioning him as a strong each-way contender at 10/1.

Presenting Lad boasts an excellent Roscommon record, including a win over this trip off a higher mark. A recent runner-up effort and a handy 5 lb claim strengthen his claims.

Put in its best effort since winning over hurdles (17f) at Wexford last August when 6¾L, 3rd over 2m at Listowel over timber LTO. Has yet to score over fences but has had only six starts over the larger obstacles, and its best effort has come over Listed class on soft ground. It is top speed-rated generally and also top-rated in some quarters. Plus carries its lowest chase weight to date of 10st with the rider's 3lb claim taken off. Has a couple of hurdle wins and can go well at this time of year and is worth considering.
