White Smoke has finished runner-up in her last two starts at the Curragh. She was unplaced in her first start at Naas in July but improved considerably to finish 2nd at 100/1 in August. The winner there has finished a close-up 4th in a Group 3 since. She was then 2nd again 11 days ago in what looked like a better race, and her form sets the standard here.

Two year old Pliny has shown placed form in a better race than this at Leopardstown in August (7 furlongs). The horse led inside the final furlong before being relegated to third. Today's drop in distance to 6 furlongs looks a good move. Pliny is half-brother to two winners including Seti, also trained by Noel Meade, who landed a two year old maiden in the November of that season (40/1). There are a lot of winners down the dam line including Group 3 scorer Mulaqat. Noel Meade's last three runners before today all placed second. Wearing blinkers for the first time, Pliny can make the places at an each way price.
