2:25 Limerick Tips

Unlucky when he unseated his rider when in front and running on at Cork last time out. Looked a certain winner that day and can make amends here back over the smaller obstacles.

3 of his 4 runs last year were good, with a win and two placed efforts. He was favorite in the big-field handicap at Punchestown when disappointing. He is 2 lbs higher for his placed effort last time out but can still run well.

Course winner Grace Faraday has been running fairly well and is still on a good mark. Looks worth a nibble at a generous-looking 8/1.

Toor Moon remains a maiden but is very consistent and often runs on into a place. He should do so again from near the bottom of the handicap.

He is still a maiden over hurdles after 17 attempts, but he has been running well, finishing 2nd on heavy ground at Clonmel last month. He disappointed at Gowran last time out, but that was over too short a distance and he steps back up in trip today.

Another Ocana is a 9yo gelding trained by L. J. Archdeacon. He runs off a mark of 76 with Anna McGuinness claiming 7 lb and just 10st 4lb. Another Ocana is a regular at Limerick, running 50% of his races here, so he knows his way around like the back of his hand. He is a chase winner off 95 and a handicap hurdle winner off 90 on soft to heavy and heavy ground. He was withdrawn from an entry at Thurles on Feb 5th, and presumably all is well given how quickly he's been turned out to have a crack at this race at his beloved Limerick. Heavy ground and the track are not going to inconvenience this gelding, and surely a featherweight of just 10st 4lb will also aid his cause in today's rain-sodden ground.
