Stifel Charity Classic Tips

Stewart Cink was in the top 3 in 3 of his previous 4 races, winning last month at Ally Challenge and he can also win this event here at Stifel Charity Classic.

Els has tailed off a bit from his start at the beginning of the year. He is still one of the better senior golfers and easy to root for.

Last year Cameron Percy was tied 6th in the Stifel Charity Classic and I am tipping he will return and have another good week. Two weeks ago he was third at the Ally Challenge and my tip is the Australian will be a contender again.

Tied 8th two weeks ago at the Ally Challenge, and Steve Allan was a winner at the Boeing Classic earlier in August. In July, he won the Dick's Sporting Goods Open and was 8th in the Senior Open Championship. I fancy the American is in great form and could add another Champions Tour win at this week’s Stifel Charity Classic.

17th and 12th the last two years at the Stifel Charity Classic, and I am backing the American will continue to get closer to his next Champions Tour win. 13th in his last start at the Rogers Charity Classic, and I am backing after a win in the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in April that Jerry Kelly can challenge in a big way at the Stifel Charity Classic.

Justin has been in a slump but is one of the better golfers on tour. This is some great value for him to finish in the top 5.

YE Yang is the defending champion in the Stifel Charity Classic, and last year he beat Bernhard Langer in a playoff. The Korean golfer has several top ten finishes this year, and I do think back on a course he likes that Yang can defend his title at the Stifel Charity Classic.

I like Cejka at the prices. Finished fourteenth on most recent outing and not a lot more to do to get amongst the places here at a nice price.

Angel Cabrera opened with a 66 at Norwood Hills Country Club twelve months ago, and I fancy the big-hitting Argentine has the game for this St. Louis track. Three wins in twelve starts this season on the Champions Tour, including a couple of majors in May at the Regions Tradition and Senior PGA. I am siding with Cabrera having a big week back at the Stifel Charity Classic.

Retief Goosen has been playing well since May when he was 4th at the Senior PGA Championship and he has a couple of top ten finishes since. Two weeks ago he was tied 6th in the Ally Challenge and I am tipping the South African can have a very good week at the Stifel Charity Classic with some big names like Harrington and Alker not playing.

The big Argentine has been playing nicely on the Champions Tour and was runner-up to Richard Green a few weeks back at the Rogers Charity Classic. Tied 22nd at the Ally Challenge, Gonzalez opened with a 66 here last year, and I am backing the South American can win this Stifel Charity Classic.

The German was beaten in a playoff twelve months ago by Y.E. Yang, and I am backing the veteran will once again put another good week together in the seniors. Top ten the last two years at the Stifel Charity Classic, and I am backing Langer won’t be too far away.

The American played two events in August and finished sixth in the Boeing Classic and fifth in the Rogers Charity Classic. I am tipping Matt Gogel will have plenty of confidence this week and he is my tip to win the Stifel Charity Classic.

In the last Champions Tour event, Thongchai Jaidee was tied 6th at the Ally Challenge, and I think he will have another good week. The Thai golfer is very straight tee to green, and I do think he could win the Stifel Charity Classic.

Last season Shane Bertsch was tied 4th in the Stifel Charity Classic and I am tipping he can be a contender again this year in this tournament. 18th at the Rogers Charity Classic and 12th at the Ally Challenge in his last two starts, my tip is Bertsch will feature this week.

South Korean 53-year-old Charlie Wi is currently eleventh in scoring average on the PGA Tour Champions and is in fine form with finishes of 4th and 18th in the last two tours last month. Looks too big this week and a high-value play at 80/1 each way for the second edition of the Stifel Charity Classic in Missouri.

Not at the races here last year, but has taken 10th and 5th here in his last two previous attempts, which makes for good value if getting anywhere near that again. Has shown signs of improving form since June.

My banger play for the second edition of the 2025 Stifel Charity Classic in Missouri is 50-year-old tour rookie Brendan Jones, who is currently ranking third on the tour in driving distance at just over 300 yards in total. He has had a poor campaign so far, but a glimmer of hope as last month he recorded his highest finish (and third top twenty) when finishing tied for 14th in the Boeing Classic. If he can manage to put it all together, as he does have 'youth' on his side, we could have a big play at 350/1 each way.
