Nine of Landaluce's previous 12 matches went to a deciding set. Mejia is in good form having won a recent challenger and will be competitive but the hard surface favours Landaluce and the Spaniard should have the quality to triumph. It may take three sets though.

Nine of Landaluce's last 12 matches went to deciding sets. He is the better ranked player but has lost 4 on the spin, whereas his opponent recently won a challenger title. An intriguing matchup and I think it will go a third set.

Berrettini has won all three previous h2h matches against Navone. That includes a straight sets win in April. His big serve and powerful forehand should be too good on the hard courts.

Navone has lost 6 of his last 9, but he did win at least one set in 4 of those matches. Berrettini has won 6 of his last 8, but just 2 of them came in straight sets. I like the Italian edging this 2-1.

Duckworth is ranked 47 places better than O'Connell. He's had a decent year including a Mexican challenger title and his serve can be the difference in this contest. Looks decent value at 5/4.

Duckworth leads the h2h battle between these players 2-1 and I think he might claim the win 2-1 here. He's ranked 47 better places than O'Connell and has strung together more wins this year. Can edge it.

Kopriva has lost his last 4 in a row and this looks a tough test. He's not played a hard court match since March and home favourite Galarneau has 5 wins in his last 7, albeit on the challenger tour.

Galarneau is having a decent year and is well prepared for this having had good hard court preparation, unlikely Kopriva. 8 of the Canadian's last 12 wins have been 2-1 scorelines and I envisage a repeat here.

Van Assche has met Droguet twice before and he was victorious on both occasions. He's won 16 of his last 20 matches on hard courts and won his most recent tournament in Estoril.

These players had a three set contest just a few weeks back with Droguet winning. Van Assche has since responded by winning ATP Estoril and he has won the previous two h2h matches on hard. Should be close but Van Assche is the man with a better 2026.

Kalinina leads the head to head battle 3-1 and I fancy her to edge this one. She's better ranked by 23 places and has a consistency to her game that Bondar cannot replicate. Hard courts are one of her favourite surfaces with 9 wins in her last 13. Five of Bondar's last six defeats were 2-1 scorelines.

Kudermetova has won the only previous h2h match between these players, also on hard courts. Both have qualified well for tournaments recently including Wimbledon, but Kudermetova is the one who looks more at ease with her game and is serving better at the moment. It's likely to be close but Korneeva looked edgy in her qualifying win and Kudermetova could punish her.

Kudermetova looks the value pick at 7/4 here. She won the only previous h2h meeting, earlier this year, and has 4 wins in her last 5. She also prefers the hard court surface, unlike her opponent.

Karolina Pliskova is continuing her comeback to the top and you have to go back to February for the last time she lost a first round match. Oliynykova is a top 50 player for a reason and form is good. She will compete but had to withdrawn in Hamburg a couple of weeks ago and if this goes to a third set she may not have the fitness.

Kayla Day had a decent run in Wimbledon qualifying recently but she's not always done too well on the WTA Tour. Parry has lost in the first round of just one of her last six tournaments and that consistency shouldn't be overlooked. She's the better ranked player and more experienced and despite the tough challenge, I think she'll edge this.
