Lone Star Park Racetrack Guide

Lone Star Park racetrack, situated in Grand Prairie, Texas has staged race meets since 1997. In 2004, Lone Star Park hosted the Breeders Cup Thoroughbred Championships which was the first time the prestigious meeting had been staged in Texas.

Lone Star Park race fans witnessed the Breeders Cup classic won by the brilliantly named Ghostzapper whilst the Europeans were successful in the Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Turf with Ouija Board ridden by Kieren Fallon and Wilko in the Juvenile ridden by Frankie Dettori.

The oval dirt track at Lone Star Park is one mile in circumference and stages thoroughbred races over distances ranging from 4.5 furlongs to 14 furlongs and there is also a turf track with a circumference of 7 furlongs staging races from 4 furlongs up to around 14.5 furlongs.

Lone Star Park hosts spring race meets from April through to July for thoroughbreds and there is a quarterhorse season that runs from September through to November. With four race days most weeks (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday) from the end of April through to July, there are wagering opportunities aplenty.
