Beckistine, like our nap, Cockney Cleopatra, was also an unlucky faller when looking set to win over this course and distance two hurdle starts ago back in January. She confirmed her ability by finishing a close third in a hurdle race at Wexford in March. She's had a 216-day lay off which is the only negative, but this is another weak race and I'm confident she'll at least make the podium position.

Annoyingly, I picked Cockney Cleopatra at 10 a.m. this morning and backed her at 40/1. If nothing else, though, the halving of her odds confirms my view that she is a great value bet (even at 20/1) in this very weak maiden hurdle. She made her hurdle debut earlier this month in a stronger race than this and made eye-catching late progress to catch the four breakaway horses. She was looking like overtaking them when she fell 3 furlongs out. Provided her confidence hasn't been knocked, a repeat of that performance should see her win this.

At first glance, MASTER MUGGINS (66/1) doesn't look anything special on form but he has only raced the one hurdle race so is very unexposed and will have learnt a lot from that one run at the end of July. Although he finished 6th of 8 that day, he wasn't far away beaten only 12 lengths. That race has gone on to produce 4 winners and 1 place from only 8 runs so the form has worked out very well. This race looks weaker and although several horses have pieces of good form, none are standout so this race looks fairly open. At the current odds of 66/1, Master Muggins rates a very good value each-way bet. Woodview Lad at 25/1 also looks decent too.
