Alpine Oasis

Daily Racing

25 EW

@26.00

Lose

-50

Alpine Oasis might have been short of a gallop when well beaten on her first run for Darryll Holland's yard last month. She also raced wide and lost ground. Previously an easy winner off 73, her best run in 2025 was off a mark of 78 when beaten a length or so into third in a Class 4 at Southwell. If she is anywhere near her best, she would not be without a chance off 72, carrying just 8-13.

Arthur Rose

@10.00

Win

20

Arthur Rose has been runner-up and twice a winner since switching yards. Her win at Lingfield over a mile was quite convincing, and the third won next time out beating My Boy Harry, who runs here today. A small rise in the weights looks manageable in current form.

Urban Law

Daily Racing

25 EW

@12.00

Lose

-50

Thanh Nam beat a field of maidens in a weak Class 6 nursery at Wolverhampton over a mile and a half. He has been raised four pounds and drops in distance. Urban Law is interesting. She is a Kingsclere homebred and makes her handicap debut today. She had a nice handicap qualifier at Lingfield, finishing mid-division in a field of fourteen. Stepped up in distance, she looks the sort to take a step forward. A similar case can be made for Jamie Osborne's gelding, with Hornby booked to ride.

Shamacid

Daily Racing

25 EW

@17.00

Lose

-50

Dark Side Thunder drops in class but previously won well in a weak 6f race off a mark of 70. Running off 73, the handicapper probably has the measure of the seven-year-old today. Shamacid is interesting. The four-year-old colt has raced eight times in non-handicaps and only now makes his handicap debut. His best run was when second over 7 furlongs, and he looks quite well treated at the weights. Reverting to his optimum trip and the application of blinkers for the first time points to a good run.

Win

Cool Molly has been running well in her last four races and was a bit unlucky when impeded at the start at Wolverhampton. She did well to finish second of ten under the circumstances. She should make the frame again, and 9/2 looks quite fair.

Nazron

Daily Racing

25 EW

@34.00

Lose

-50

Charlie Mason has an obvious chance but probably not as much as 11/8. Nazron ran a career best in the summer in a Class 3, running up to a mark of 80. He seems to have lost his way since. But a drop in grade and the application of a visor might bring about some improvement running off a handicap mark of just 72. Em Four couldn't get home even with Rob Hornby's assistance last time.

-50

Rosieisme Darling and Saeculamation have not met before but have beaten rivals who have clashed since. Of these, Rosieisme Darling's defeat of Blindfold Games (second next time out) looks the stronger piece of form. She was only nudged up a few pounds for her win at Chelmsford and looks likely to get six furlongs today.

Maynora

Daily Racing

25 EW

@10.00

Lose

-50

Maynora's chance will likely be much improved by the drop in distance and the application of first-time blinkers by trainer Craig Lidster. The horse did not appear to see out the 7 furlongs at Kempton and definitely not the mile at Carlisle. The handicapper has now dropped him seven pounds since qualifying, and 9/1 each appeals with a dubious favorite. Tickettothestars could also run better after a messy race last time at Wolves.

It may pay to stay loyal to Fidelius, who used up too much energy early in his last race where the early fractions were unsustainable. He had previously beaten next-time-out winner Alligator Alley by a length in a Class 4 over 5 furlongs. He is an impatient sprinter, but in this small field might get away with it carrying 8-10. His stablemate was beaten by Alligator Alley in receipt of weight.

Alafdhal's handicap mark has been raised three pounds, but he won well from a wide draw and a crowded finish over the course and distance 17 days ago. He is handicapped up to his best today, but only because he is in his best form. He gives weight to reopposing Amerjeet, but he needs luck in running and is drawn in six. Peregrine Falcon must swoop soon off a tumbling mark.

French-bred import Token Love cost 55k euros as a yearling and underwent wind surgery before debuting at Haydock in a Class 4, having never raced as a two-year-old. The three-year-old looks to have come of age now, with a very good second at Wolverhampton over the course and distance on 1 December (touched 1/33 in running). He has only been nudged up two pounds by the handicapper and should be competitive if reproducing a similar effort.

Snaafy's course-and-distance win at Wolverhampton three weeks ago can be upgraded, as he cut out the running to win convincingly. Runner-up Emma's Letter was second next time out. Spirit of Mara from the Richard Fahey yard looks the sort to take a step forward in handicap company. Having been gelded, he was returning from an 84-day break at Newcastle and was a bit keen. Howzak made a mockery of his handicap mark when last winning a Class 6 here, rated 61, in November 2024. He has only been on the racetrack twice in the last year and was probably in need of the run last time. He has dropped back to his last winning mark, is eased in grade, and Paul Mulrennan has been booked to ride, suggesting he might be ready to find form.

Jim Goldie is not afraid to try different trips with his inmates in the search for improvement. At this level, it often pays off. Ana Emaraaty went very close last time over a mile, just fading half a furlong from the post. He drops him down to the intermediate sprint tonight, and the tactic could well pay off. He has won over six furlongs in the past. Bomb Squad is one of John Mackie's small yard's best horses, and he makes the long trip up from Derbyshire with a good chance.

Cloch Nua's last three races did not inspire, but he is much better over a mile than an extended 9 furlongs, and he had also been off the track all summer. He made hay last winter at Southwell and Newcastle. He is on a winning mark and down in trip, and should put up a better performance today.

A puzzle of a race with Paul Mulrennan taking an outside ride on top-weight Starliner, who wins infrequently. Linda Perratt's other runner, Samra Star, is the less fancied of the two, and Kaiya Fraser, who would usually ride Starliner, gets the ride instead. Leaving aside jockey bookings, the owner has plenty of winners at this course, and Samra Star is just a pound higher than her last win when landing a long-odds tickle in October. She's up in trip but has won over 9 furlongs on the all-weather.

Quite a weak Class 4 and Tony Carroll looks to have found another good opportunity for Towerlands, who is at the top of his game at the moment. His win last time at Southwell carrying 9-12 can probably be upgraded, as he was looking for room one furlong from the finish. He still managed to hold Priapos, who was bidding for a hat-trick himself. The unexposed three-year-old filly, Selection, might be the biggest threat.
