Trained by Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore, this four-year-old gelding gets a drop in class and trip tomorrow, where he hasn’t been far off in previous races. He finished a respectable fifth over 1m at this track last month, where a slow start put him on the back foot. The drop back to 7f is an interesting move. As long as Nolan can get him to break sharper and overcome the high draw, he could be overpriced in this contest.

Trained by Chris Gordon, this eight-year-old gelding is a bold front-runner who arrives in career-best form. He landed a competitive handicap at Plumpton in November and backed it up with a brave second at Ascot (2m 5f) last time out (December 19), where he led until the dying strides. Although this is a Grade 2 handicap, he stays the 2m 5f trip well and benefits significantly from the booking of Rian Corcoran, whose 7 lb claim brings his weight down to a featherweight 10 st. If he can dictate terms early, he looks a massive price to hold on to the finish.

I've tipped Vitalline many times and the veteran always gets caught too far back before bolting up late. This eight-year-old gelding runs in a Classified Stakes (0??"50), which should suit him perfectly based on recent starts. He arrives in good form, having won over 6f at Kempton in mid-December before finishing a solid fifth (beaten three lengths) over this course and distance last time out (December 22). With the benefit of the inside berth in stall 1 and regular partner Josephine Gordon aboard, he looks well placed to run a bold race, providing he's handy throughout.

This four-year-old gelding, trained by Robert Cowell, is a consistent sprinter who is knocking firmly on the door. He arrives on a quick turnaround, having finished a good second of eight at Wolverhampton just six days ago. That was another solid effort in a string of near-misses (form figures 2-4-2-2-2), where he was beaten only a length after his customary slow start. This is his fourth race running off the same mark of 67, and he's well overdue a win. Ghiani is the man to do it.

This six-year-old mare, trained by Olly Murphy, is a very exciting contender making her handicap debut. She arrives in good form, having finished a keeping-on third in a novice hurdle at Leicester (November 30). Prior to that, she was an impressive winner at this track (Ffos Las) in November, proving she handles the course and the likely soft/heavy ground perfectly. She races off an opening mark of 109, which looks very workable given her unexposed profile. She's bred to stay, so the step up in trip should suit, and of course it's always nice to have Sean Bowen on board.

This four-year-old gelding, trained by Simon Hodgson, is an interesting unexposed type who could take a big step forward. He finished 11th of 12 over this course and distance last time out (December 10), but that result is misleading. He was beaten only 4¾ lengths in a bunched finish on what was his handicap debut. He stays at a mark of 67, and connections have applied first-time cheekpieces to sharpen him up. I’ve had him tracked from the first AW run, and he’s been unlucky in clustered packs twice in the finish. Luke Morris is having a good go at the moment, and I’m expecting a better run.

Trained by Sheena West, this eight-year-old mare is an interesting long shot who could outrun her odds now stepping up in trip. She put in a much-improved effort last time out at this course (December 3), finishing a keeping-on fourth over 1m 5f. That was her second run back from a break, and she shaped as if this move up to 2m is exactly what she needs. With the jockey change and being dropped another 1 lb to a handy mark of 53, she has the stamina and track form to hit the frame under jockey George Bass.

Trained by Darryll Holland, this six-year-old mare is a lively outsider who caught the eye last time out. In her most recent run over 7f at this track (December 18), she was slowly away but finished powerfully to take sixth, beaten only three lengths. That effort??"her best since joining the new stable??"suggests the step up to 1m (1m 13y) will suit her perfectly. Racing off a basement mark of 45 with Darragh Keenan in the saddle, she looks capable of hitting the frame if she can stay in touch early.

Trained by Tony Carroll, this eight-year-old gelding looks the one to beat as he gets a drop in class for this contest. He arrives in peak form, having finished a narrow second over this course and distance last month. That performance has been franked by First Greyed winning a Class 5 and Francesi winning a Class 4 recently. With Cieren Fallon booked to ride and a good draw from stall 2, he has everything in his favor to convert that near miss into a victory.

Trained by J.R. Jenkins, this veteran arrives off a respectable fifth at Kempton last month and looks primed to strike from a nice draw. Stall 1 can be advantageous over this sharp 5f trip. It should allow jockey Marco Ghiani to utilize the horse's natural early speed to secure the rail. Now down to a mark of 53, he's 4 lb lower than when Ghiani got the win on him over 5f at Chelmsford earlier in the year. Better off in the weights, Ghiani back on board, and the drop in trip should see the old boy in the finish.

This three-year-old filly looks a prime candidate to outrun her odds following a massive step forward on her handicap debut. She finished a close fourth over this course and distance last month in first-time blinkers, proving she has found her level off a basement mark of 46. With the headgear retained and apprentice Jack Dace taking a valuable 5 lb off her back, she carries a featherweight (8-4) and is undeniably the unexposed improver in this weak field. She caught my eye to finish strongly over C&D but was just too far back to be in the mix at the finish.

Trained by Kieran Burke, the veteran Vitalline looks primed to strike again. He landed a competitive handicap at Kempton just two starts ago (December 17) and backed that up with a solid fifth at Lingfield, flying home late from a slow start. With regular partner Josephine Gordon in the saddle, he looks a reliable option to feature prominently in this Class 6 event. I've tipped Vitalline a lot, and he gets the most unlucky rides, either slow out of the stalls or sent too late. If he breaks well tomorrow and gets daylight, his turn of foot should get him up.

This six-year-old gelding, trained by Patrick Morris, is a long-standing maiden who is arguably more consistent than his 0-29 record suggests. He arrives here on the back of a solid fourth-place finish at Wolverhampton LTO. On that occasion, over 1m 6f, he was slowly away but made good headway to be beaten roughly five lengths. He has hit the frame (2nd, 3rd, or 4th) in four of his last six starts, proving he is competitive off his current basement mark of 46.

This eight-year-old gelding, trained by Michael Appleby, arrives here with a rating of 80, having dropped slightly from his peak. His recent form suggests he is competitive. In his last run at Lingfield he finished a close fourth of six, beaten just over two lengths by Intervention. That was a solid effort where he showed speed to press the leader before fading late on. Back at his last winning mark and with the drop in trip, he definitely holds the bigger value in this field.

This four-year-old gelding, trained by Bryan Smart, arrives here as a well-handicapped contender showing signs of a revival. After a quiet spell, he posted a much-improved effort at Newcastle (December 13), finishing a keeping-on third of 8 over 7f. That was his best run for some time and signaled that he is becoming competitive again off his falling mark. He races off an Official Rating (OR) of 63, which is significantly lower than his peak rating of 75 seen earlier in his career. Lto he finished just behind The Green Man, who went on to run a cracker of a race in a competitive Class 4 handicap. Jamaican Storm also finished well clear of the veteran Bobby Joe Leg, who went on to win. So I can't see why he shouldn't be involved in the finish tomorrow.

This four-year-old gelding, trained by Mike Sowersby, arrives here in consistent form since switching yards. His latest effort was at Newcastle (November 18), where he finished a keeping-on third of 13 over 2m, beaten 3½ lengths. That run confirmed his stamina and well-being. Prior to that, he was a very close second over this course and distance (October 23), beaten only a short head. He races off a mark of 47, which is just 2 lb higher than his near miss at this track.

This five-year-old gelding, trained by Tom Dascombe, arrives here on the back of a career-best effort over hurdles. He put in a great performance at Ascot 14 days ago, finishing second of 13 in a highly competitive handicap hurdle. Sent off at 33/1, he traveled strongly and rallied gamely to be beaten only 2¾ lengths by the talented Wilful. That form looks rock-solid in the context of this slightly lower-grade Class 3 contest. Racing off a mark of 125, he has gone up in the weights, but his progressive profile suggests he is more than capable of handling it.

This nine-year-old gelding, trained by Michael J. McDonagh, arrives here on a retrieval mission after a disappointing effort last time out. He was pulled up at Navan (December 14) in heavy ground, but that run looks too bad to be true and is best forgiven. Prior to that, he was in excellent form, winning a handicap chase at Down Royal (November 1) and finishing a solid fourth over this course and distance (C&D) in late November. He races off a mark of 115, just 1 lb lower than his last run, but remains 7 lb higher than his winning mark from Down Royal. He's run well in listed company off marks of 120+ so he's still well treated on back form.

This seven-year-old gelding, trained by Paul Nicholls, looks primed to strike at his local track. He arrives here on the back of a very encouraging effort at Taunton (December 11), where he finished a staying-on fourth of 11, beaten just under 5 lengths. He was doing his best work at the finish that day, suggesting he is coming to the boil nicely. He races off a mark of 106, which is 1 lb lower than his last winning mark, making him well handicapped. His last win was a Class 3 over the usual 2m3f, so he gets a drop in trip and a drop in class tomorrow, so I'm expecting a big run.

This nine-year-old gelding, trained by Ed De Giles, arrives here as the clear form pick. He is in the form of his life despite being an old fella, having won readily over this course and distance (C&D) just over a month ago (November 29). On that occasion, he traveled powerfully and put the race to bed with ease, beating Electric Avenue by over two lengths. Prior to that win, he posted back-to-back second-place finishes, proving his consistency. He has been raised 6 lb for that last victory to a mark of 69, but given the authority of his recent success, he looks more than capable of defying the rise.

This four-year-old filly, trained by Philip McBride, is the standout pick in this Classified Stakes. With all runners here carrying level weights (9-9), this gives her a massive advantage as one of the highest-rated horses in the field (Official Rating 50). She arrives in solid form, having finished a close fourth at Chelmsford last month. The drop back to 5f suits her natural speed perfectly. The booking of Cieren Fallon is a huge statement of intent. She has a great chance here, provided she gets the clear run.

This five-year-old gelding, trained by Darryll Holland, finished 5th of 10 at Southwell (1m) just 15 days ago (December 18). However, that run was better than the bare result suggests. He made a move 2f out and finished 2 lengths off the winner. That run was coming back from a four-month layoff, so he should be ready for this drop in class tomorrow. He races off an Official Rating (OR) of 59, which is still a mark I think he's capable of.
