His Kodiac pedigree backs up the assertion that he can perform at this distance and he races here 1lb up from bottom weight, 6lbs below his career best win at course and distance, and with a 5lb jockey claim, making his mark enticing. He's a consistently efficient runner, his yard has a decent record here, he has a favourable draw and the pace profile looks to suit. When you look past the lack of a recent win he ticks a lot of boxes here and is good value at these odds.

Tommytwohoots catches the eye here as a horse turned out just 2 days after a race where he looked in fine sprinting condition, coming second at 25/1 odds by 1.25 lengths to an in-form and heavily backed Secret Road, but still beating the next runner by 2.25 lengths. He has good pedigree for course and distance and the benefit of Lewis Edmunds in the saddle, who has a good record here. The rapid turn out back to handicapping after such a strong and efficient showing last time out alongside the jockey booking suggests to me that the yard sees an opportunity here. He has a wide draw, is up 2lbs and against stiffer competition here, however he looks well placed for a handy position if he can break well and Edmunds looks a shrewd and complementary booking.

The Lost King returns to the all-weather for only the second time. He showed improving efficiency at 8 furlongs and now steps down to a more favourable trip. He has good pedigree for course and distance and is 1 for 2 at this distance in his so far lightly-raced career. This is his first race since being gelded and though back from a break he's show ability to perform adequately from fresh in the past. He is favourably drawn and will want to lead early from stall 4, the step down in trip should be a positive from there if he doesn't over-exert himself before the run-in due to other runners vying for the lead. He may be too green for this field, nonetheless conditions should suit and he's from a top yard at this course so is attractive at these odds.

Naval Ensign showed great finishing speed when winning here last time out, beating Sanditon, and is turned out quickly under a 5lb penalty. Sanditon is regarded as the main danger to reverse that result however there is reason to believe that Naval Ensign will defy the rise in weights as she put in a very strong finishing display last time out and this race looks to be one that will be run at a strong early pace, which might well favour a strong closing run. There can be a case made that Sanditon's performance last time out was in-part due to first-time headgear and it might not be indicative of reversing the form today. The penalty and the wide draw are less than ideal but she has shown the type of ability to potentially overcome that.
