Craig Nicol's 9yo is a multiple winner here on the flat and over hurdles. Looking at his profile, it seems he's better on a decent surface rather than deep ground, and he looked ring??'rusty as far as hurdling goes when running here over 2m 4f on soft going on New Year's Day. He's had another run on the AW since, and his yard have won with their last two runners over hurdles with this conditional aboard.

James Hannon has got his small yard in decent form, and his 7-year-old looks a bet here. He ran two decent races over hurdles in December on testing ground, the last one at Limerick, which is not dissimilar to this track apart from the Thurles uphill finish. He flopped last time over fences, for which he was made favorite, and Darragh O'Keefe is an unusual booking for the yard.

The Greenall/Guerriero 7-year-old could easily be 3/3 over CD after a luckless run here in the December Gold Cup. He's only been put up 1 lb for being beaten under 2 l in the aforementioned race and won the Plate at the Festival with ears pricked last year.

Fergal O'Brien looks to be hitting form with a double today (Thursday, Newcastle & Ludlow). His unexposed stayer can add to the tally. He beat a Murphy/Bowen hotpot at Uttoxeter four weeks ago, with untold in hand on his first attempt at a staying trip. That was on deep ground, and the more rain the course gets the night before, the better.
