Chris Gordon's 5yo appeared to run into one last time at Haydock 37 days ago, following a respectable seasonal reappearance here earlier in the month over a half-mile shorter than today's trip. The extra distance can only be a plus, and this looks an excellent opportunity for the yard to continue their good run.

The more the ground dries out at Wincanton, the more the chance of Emma Lavelle's 7-year-old improves. I believe the price is too big, seeing as it's good to soft in places already (Tuesday) and a dry forecast ahead. His best form has come on a decent surface at a right-handed track, and he has the ability to go very close.

This looks a red-hot Kauto Star and, unusually, I think the two home-trained novice chasers might have too much for the Mullins-trained Kitzbuhel. I'm siding with the Jamie Snowden-trained Wendigo. If he was able to win over an inadequate 2m4f at Newbury last time, he should have the speed for 3m around here.

You don't get many Bowen/Murphy runners at this price, and the 4yo looks worth a small bet. He ran his best hurdle race over Cheltenham last month before possibly getting caught out on the soft ground at Sandown. A repeat of his run back here would put him in the mix.

I've been a fan of Adam Nicol's front-runner this year, but even I was surprised the 7-year-old had the stamina to win over fences here a fortnight ago over an extended 2m7f on soft ground. With competition for the lead over this shorter trip, he'll hopefully be able to burn his competitors off, as his staying power is guaranteed.

The Warren Greatrex 5-year-old cost 420,000 EUR at the Highflyer Sales 22 months ago. Although I think there's little chance of recouping that enormous outlay, Mighty Bandit ran a race full of promise on his chasing debut over CD in a warm novice handicap 19 days ago. He was a 50/1 chance then, and improvement will make him hard to beat here.

Rockinastorm's form figures when jumping fences over CD are 121, and but for being beaten a neck, Henry Daly's 8yo would be unbeaten here. He ran well at Cheltenham's Showcase meeting in the 18-runner amateur handicap chase when falling at the last on his seasonal reappearance, and seems to act on any going.
