The last time the US Open was played in Oakmont, back in 2016, SHANE LOWRY entered the final round with a four shot lead but blew it all away with a +6 final round to finish T2, three shots behind the winner. He has evolved as a golfer since then and is currently ranked in the top twelve. With all the experience he has ained since then, i feel if he is in that position again, he will not let it slip.

All three career wins have come over one mile two furlongs on the faster Polytrack/Tapeta surfaces at Wolverhampton and Lingfield. He is 0-12 on turf. The stable is striking at 5% over the last two weeks, but this does look a poor C4 contest.

The Cowboys have lost four of their last five while the DOLPHINS come off a 56-6 drubbing of the Dragons. My selection are two-from-two at today's venue. With all the players missing for the team i expect the Dolphins to cover the -5.50 HANDICAP.

Newcastle are struggling with absentees for this game against the SYDNEY ROOSTERS. They are without Ponga due to Origin & Gamble through injury. They have also had a late withdrawal of Sharpe due to injury. My selection welcome back Walker, Whyte & Butcher after injuries. With the players missing for the Knights and the returning players for Sydney i expect the visitors to have to much quality and cover the -9.50 HANDICAP.

The last time he raced over good to soft ground was at this evening's track where he weakened inside the final furlong, but that was in C2 company, a class higher than today. He was outclassed and raced on the wrong side of the track at York last time out, so excuses for that run.

Towards the end of this season, VALVANO could well be contesting Pattern races if he learns to settle. He raced keen and green as a three-year-old but showed so much potential. He went off favourite for the November Handicap last year, so is held in high regard. More rain, the better for my tip.

PERFECT PART has had excuses in her recent outings. Going back to last Summer when she raced in Group 2 & 3 contests it was clear she needed seven furlongs to be seen at her best. Her first two starts of the season were again over an insufficient trip of six furlongs. Last time out was the first time connections raced her over seven furlongs but did not get the run of the race, getting hampered two furlongs out but then stayed on well to finish fourth. Seven furlongs today and a clear run should see her go close.

Connections of BOTANICAL kept their charge ticking over on unsuitable ground during March/April, waiting for a softer surface for him to show his true form. He gets good to soft ground today. His second-placed finish on heavy ground off a mark of 109 at Haydock last September is head and shoulders above what his rivals have shown, and a reproduction of that should be enough to take this event.
