Not the best time then to visit re-juvenated Walsall whose new caretaker staff have turned around some awful post Christmas form with four points against two promotion chasing rivals and should put themselves firmly back in the play off hunt with a win here.

Useful on the Flat (Royal Ascot winner) and thus far unbeaten over hurdles, SOBER is certainly the classiest entrant. Against him are a distinct lack of experience in this sphere and the fact that Paul Townend has chosen King Rasko Grey. Townend is a shrewd judge but not infallible, and if it comes to a sprint for the line the selection will take some beating.

Never has got due credit for her win in this race at 25/1 last year because State Man handed her the race when falling at the last but GOLDEN ACE was bang there on merit that day and again when runner up to Sir Gino on Boxing Day in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.
