She's a bit up in the weights, but the jockey claims 5 lb and the horse is consistent. I think she will go close with this jockey back on board today.

3-year-old colt sired by Starman has had 6 starts now without getting his head in front. After a slow start to his career, the penny seems to have dropped with two decent 3rds here at Wolverhampton. The first of those wasn't helped by the jockey losing an iron during the race, and both runs suggest there is more to come when things drop right. Better off with the winner in his last race, and with a jockey who now knows him better, I feel he will go close today at a fair price.

4-year-old filly sired by Expert Eye hasn't run a bad race here yet, winning under this jockey over the distance and on this going. She weakened near the end last time out in a Class 5, and I think the jockey may hold on to her a bit longer today. She should go close.

3-year-old gelding sired by Acclamation won here under this jockey back in December off a mark of 50. Not so good at Southwell or Kempton since, but may prefer it here. Normally front-runs and has a good draw to pop out and do so again.

9-year-old gelding sired by Requinto is the old man of the field but still runs some decent races. He is back down to his last winning handicap mark and has an apprentice on today claiming a further 7 lb. He has ridden him before, and where the horse has run well here at Lingfield before, I think he may just get a bit outpaced over 5 furlongs these days. The extra furlong here today will give the claimer a bit longer to get the horse rolling. A very fair price today ??" I'm having a rare each-way interest.

4-year-old filly, sired by Sergei Prokofiev, is a consistent sort, winning twice here already under this jockey over the minimum trip. She can front run and has run a very respectable race at this 6-furlong distance, so there is no reason why this distance should be a problem. Carrying top weight, but she is a 4-year-old against a field of 3-year-olds and looks to have every chance from a decent draw.

5-year-old gelding, sired by Camacho, hasn't won since last June on turf at Goodwood on good to soft. He is back down to the same handicap mark now, so can win off this mark. Carrying top weight today and over his longest trip to date of 1 mile 4 furlongs. I think dropping to Class 5 will help. He has won one of his two attempts in this grade, and the weight will hopefully not stop him over the extra distance. Think he'll go close.

6-year-old gelding sired by Kuroshio is a two-time course-and-distance winner, so clearly likes the conditions. He was slowly away last time and the step up to 5 furlongs explains the lacklustre run. He quite often front-runs and can make all. A good 5 lb claimer reduces the weight burden, and if getting away on terms he should make a good race of it.

6-year-old mare sired by Dartmouth has a decent chance here, and I'm surprised at the price we're getting. She has won over the distance and has come down in the weights to below her last winning mark. The jockey has ridden her several times and will know her now. Maybe 3+ miles on softer ground went against her, as her win was over this distance on good going. Hopeful of at least a better run than last time.

3-year-old filly sired by Prince of Lir has yet to get her head in front in 11 starts but has not run that badly. Seems to go well enough here and has dropped to her lowest handicap mark to date. Only her third run for this trainer, and the jockey will know her better this time.
