Potters Charm was one of the best novice hurdlers last season and could be the new kid on the block in an open stayers' division. He was 5th in the Turners at Cheltenham, and that race used to be a good pointer to stayers' hurdle types.

The Walk was a very nice winner on his first appearance at this track in November. He quickened up under hands and heels to beat some nice-looking horses. He is very well related, and Deep Run is not too far back in the pedigree, which I always like to see, as it often influences a horse's ability. His trainer, Joe Tizzard, wouldn't normally have his horses fully primed first time out, so significant improvement can be expected.

The bookies seem to have got the price wrong for Lennons Grove in this fairly competitive-looking bumper. She has plenty of experience and solid form, including a 2-length second in an Irish point-to-point behind a horse that was acquired by the Skeltons and ran a blinder in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham in November. I very rarely bet in these three-year-old hurdle races, but when Nicky Henderson has a runner at nearly 8/1 it needs close inspection. Macshadow Des Crai has a cracking jumps pedigree for this type of race. These horses are usually flat-bred types that often don't stay two miles. Gameball has done us a favour both times he has run. Although he is massively upped in class here in the Grade 2 Royal Bond Hurdle, he could improve again to go close. He bolted up in his bumper when trained by Andrew Slattery and then won his maiden hurdle race easily. Despite winning, his jumping was average there, but with Henry de Bromhead now being his trainer he should have brushed this up. The Willie Mullins favourite has looked good so far, but the horse he beat last time got stuffed at Newbury today, and he is not the biggest of types.
