She is a six-year-old mare by Milan, out of a good Flemensfirth mare. She is related to numerous winners, including Bud Fox, who won very impressively first time out in a hot Punchestown bumper before developing problems. Her trainer has a good strike rate with bumper horses, and the jockey booking of Maxine O'Sullivan is also a massive plus.

This race is packed with nice-looking pedigrees, and it is difficult to come down on one. But at the odds, it could be worth chancing Donwell Abbey. He is by the classy Idaho and out of a Shantou mare who is related to the likes of Thetotherone and Thisthatandtother, who both won on their first bumper outings. I am going to have a saver on Jukella, who also has a very eye-catching pedigree.

Minella Machine won a point-to-point by 24 lengths first time out and then ran fourth, beaten only eight lengths, in a very hot bumper at Leopardstown at Christmas. That race was won by The Mourne Rambler, who went on to win the Cheltenham bumper impressively last week. His trainer, Henry de Bromhead, is in much better form now, and has booked the top bumper jockey John Gleeson.

Galatrona could be very useful. She has run well in two heavy-ground Irish point-to-points, finishing 2nd and then 1st. She is by Harzand, who is producing some very useful National Hunt horses, and out of a mare from the family of the brilliant Gold Cup and King George winner Kicking King. There are also other very talented horses in the bloodline, including Kalishnikov and Four Commanders. It will be a surprise if she doesn't go close here.

Moments Away looks interesting in this bumper as an alternative to the more fancied horses. He was placed in two Irish National Hunt flat races, the second of which he was only three lengths behind the Willie Mullins-trained The Wager, who went on to run a blinder in the Cheltenham Championship Bumper last week, finishing only four lengths behind the winner. He is by Getaway and out of a Milan mare, so has a very nice pedigree.

Lots of top, top stables with representatives in this race. But at a big price, Templone could go well. He missed the break on his first run at Galway but still ran on well at the finish to sixth out of a big field. That experience will have done him a lot of good, and his trainer 'Fozzy' Stack often has his horses well primed in the early part of the season.

My favourite horse in training is Diva Luna. Although she is up against a very strong field, I am hoping her jumping can keep her in it and give her a chance of going close. She ran well at the festival last year over hurdles, but her trainer, Ben Pauling, said she was never quite right last season. Since being transferred to the larger obstacles she has blossomed. She prefers good ground, so I am hoping there isn't too much rain for her.

It may pay to get Karbau on board now before the forecast rain comes before Friday, as his high knee action would indicate the softer it is the better. He has been well backed already for this and could go off a very short price for such a competitive race. He is the only horse of the week that stable jockey Paul Townend has decided to ride in a handicap, which could be a tip in itself.

I have backed Maestro Conti at 25/1 after his first-time-out win in France, and he has shown a high level of form in his two runs in this country for the Skeltons. Despite being unbeaten, he doesn't seem to be a strong fancy by many of the pundits, but the way he quickened up the hill at this track on Trials Day in January makes me think he will take some beating.

The favourite looks like the best horse in the race, but the form of Gordon Elliott's horses is a bit worrying. So it could pay to take a chance with Jade De Grugy for Willie Mullins, who is firing on all cylinders. She has very good form with the likes of Golden Ace and Lossiemouth and is only rated 4 lbs below the favourite.

I was very keen on Bentrghill for this race before he was pulled out a week ago, but Quiryn looks an able deputy for the same stable. He has a flat pedigree, being by the brilliant French horse Scotsasc, and looked very good on his one win to date. He is only a four-year-old, which can be a negative for this race, but he gets weight for his age. Paul Townend, the stable jockey, gets the ride as Patrick Mullins, who usually has the choice in the bumpers, cannot do the low weight.

No Drama This End has impressed with each run this season, and he comfortably won the Challow Hurdle in December. He has won at the track, and he can be a first winner at the meeting for his trainer, Paul Nicholls.

Rebecca Curtic won this race last year with Haiti Couleurs, and she is represented this time with the progressive Newton Tornado. He first caught my eye when he gave Diva Luna a race over hurdles at this track on January 25, and he has progressed ever since. He has fallen once, but generally his jumping is superb. He won a point-to-point over 3 miles easily against a good horse, so he should be able to see out this trip.

Jagwar has been all the rage for this, but I think his form is a bit overrated. Stepping up to 3 miles for the first time could be tough, especially as his pedigree wouldn't suggest he needs it. Hyland looks a very solid alternative. He has been brought along steadily all season, and the drying ground has really come into his favour. His form as a novice was exceptional, and this race looks like it could have been the plan.

Many think this is a two-horse race between the top two in the betting, but I find it difficult to look past Kopek Des Bordes. He was exceptional in the Supreme last year, and the one time we have seen him this season his jumping was spectacular.

Old Park Star has looked very good this season, improving from run to run. Knowing Nicky Henderson, he has probably left some further room for improvement. He has one easy win at the track, goes on the ground, jumps well, and has a top trainer. What is not to like?
