PIRANHA RAMA is a major player in this. She's 1 from 1 on the surface and her trainer is 1 from 1 at Kempton in 2025. She's up 2lbs in a slightly better race but back on the Polytrack I would be happy to ignore the rise. I would also say it's wise not to pay attention to her Wolverhampton runs recently. I suspect the Tapeta surface wasn't her cup of tea hence being in this contest. She's got a decent chance of at least making the places.

He's only had a couple of runners at Southwell but given his 33.33% SR on the all-weather in the last fortnight it's best to look past that. His 5 year olds have a 50% strike rate in the last year and today's jockey, Andrew Mullen, is 3 from 3 for this trainer.

IMPOSE TOI is a horse I like a lot. I tipped him on his return and he is just as attractive a proposition in this field as his last run. One of his opponents who finished third that day was switched to fences and won a class 3 chase at Newbury in November. Nicky Henderson's strike rate at Kempton is 30% in the past year. This horse has only run at Kempton once previously but was placed. He's 2 from 4 over the distance and has a 40% strike rate on similar going and has a 50% strike rate in this class of race. So far in 2025 Nicky Henderson has a 100% SR in this class of race which bodes well. 7lb higher mark than last time out shouldn't be enough to stop this horse from being highly competitive. Remember he's never been out of the first 3. Big player in this.

Both trainer and jockey are in fine form recently, the former having a 50% strike rate at Newcastle in 2023. Jim Goldie's 5-year-olds are 2 wins from four runs (also one placed). Jockey and trainer combo has a 42.86% SR, which is massive. This trainer's runners over the trip have a whopping 66.67% SR. This is the trainer's first runner in a class 4 in 2023, but given his strike rates in other classes, it's not an issue. This trainer also has a 44.44% strike rate in races with this field size. MIDNIGHT LION is a massive chance at a decent price here.

KING OF THE JUNGLE looks to have a massive chance. Mick Easterby has only had two runners here in 2025, with one finishing placed, but that offers encouragement. His runners over the trip have been profitable to follow in the past year. He does get more placed than winners, but I think this horse could well be this yard's first winner of 2025! Especially as, based on all-time stats, January is his second-best month of the year for strike rate.

MOTU PROPRIO is very interesting to me in this race. This €170K Earthlight filly is well bred (Macrame (Dam) by Montjeu). Her trainer has a 33.33% SR in the past fortnight, and the jockey booking looks pretty significant. Runners over the 6f trip have a 26.32% SR if backing all runners (IBAR) in the last 12 months (profit of £29.43 to a £1 stake). Add to that the fact that this trainer's runners in field sizes of 6-10 runners have a 27.45% SR IBAR in the past year (£15.33 profit to a £1 stake). 1 from 3 in January bodes well for this horse's chances. At least an EW shout.

HAVANA SIX represents Gérard Mossé, who knows how to win at this track. The trainer and jockey combo have a good strike rate, and her recent 3rd place at Chantilly is pretty good form in this field. Add to that, the trainer has a 66.67% strike rate with runners over the trip, and that makes this horse look a very attractive option. No runners yet this year, but a 25% SR in December reads well. She's the one to beat.

FAI FAI looks to have been found a great opportunity to get back to winning ways. This horse ran a good second in a far stronger class 4 event on the 31st of December and now drops to a class 6. That run was from a mark of 59 and now races off a mark of just 47! The horse is 1 from 2 over course and distance and he's now just 1 lb above his last win at Lingfield over this trip. The going will play out a bit slower today but I think if anything that may help him as a couple of times when finishing second he was a little tapped for toe. His trainer has a decent strike rate here and today's claimer is well worth the 3 lb claim. Trainer's 21.43% SR with runners over this trip is a big positive. Major player in this contest.

CARLTON is a nicely bred Frankel gelding who transferred to James Owen's yard and has won both races since. Today's going is an unknown, but I don't believe that it's a deal breaker. This horse ran well at Newcastle on this going, so given this race is over further, it must be seen as a positive. The trainer has a good track record with his 5-year-olds. This jockey and trainer combo has a 100% strike rate in 2025 (very successful and profitable to follow in the last 12 months). He won last time out despite a draw bias. The trainer's 42.86% SR in this class of contest in 2025 must be seen as a massive positive. This yard's 28.57% strike rate in January is another big positive. Huge player.

Willie Haggas has been in decent form on the all-weather and has had a 29.41% strike rate over the last 12 months. Although Haggas hasn't yet had a winner in 2025, it's only a matter of time before he does. This trainer and jockey combo has had a 36.36% SR in the past year, and runners over this trip have had a 21.58% SR (£75.85 profit to a £1 stake if backing all runners (IBAR) in the last 12 months). That's huge! In this class of race, Haggas has a 20% SR (£26.78 profit to a £1 IBAR). Slow start to January for this trainer, but CARBINE HARVESTER will put that straight.

No doubt those at the top of the market are there on merit, but Harry Angel has only had 2 runners at Kempton since 2005, and 1 of those won and 1 was placed. Esquire, who was by Harry Angel and whose dam's sire was Oasis Dream, achieved a rating of 107 and contested races between 7 and 9 furlongs. I'm not sure this horse will win, but I can see her sneaking a place. Worth small stakes EW.

If you'd backed all Boughey trained runners at Wolverhampton in the last 12 months you'd have made a profit to a £1 stake of £34.33. Today's jockey and trainer combo have a 20% strike rate in the last year. The handicapper only nudged her up another 2lbs which I don't think will stop her winning again. Just listen to these stats in her favour; 1 from 1 over course and distance, 2 wins and 1 place at this track, 1 from 1 over the trip, 40% strike rate on similar going, 66.7% SR with same headgear as today, 1 from 1 in class 5 events, and jockey and trainer have been very successful with this horse. ALFHEIM is a Huge player in this contest.

MOON OVER MIAMI looks like a horse with any amount of potential to come. Bearing that in mind, this opening handicap mark looks very lenient. Ralph Beckett's runners at Southwell have a 25% strike rate in the last 12 months, and when Crouch rides for him, they have just under a 20% strike rate. The trainer's runners over this trip have a 29.17% strike rate in the last 12 months. Massive player.

MONSIEUR BEAULIEU ran a blinder when second to a horse that won again on 29th December. This Equiano gelding is 1 from 1 over course and distance and is 1 from 1 when ridden by today's jockey. He has strong form on this going and surface and it's not difficult to see him getting up today even though he hasn't run off today's mark previously. Big player.

Although a relatively cheap purchase, his dam won at Lingfield herself over 6f and is the one that brings the pace side, and Territories brings top-class miler form at the highest level. This horse has a pretty good draw, which could prove decisive. Place claims at least.

I like to follow progeny of Territories in a sprint, and this race is no exception. The yard has had a 2-year-old winner in 2024, which boosts confidence. When this jockey and trainer combine, they have a 33.33% strike rate, and her strike rate over the distance in 2024 is fairly decent. The trainer's runners have been to a decent standard in this class of race. The favorite does have decent form, but I'm inclined to side with LUNANOVA, who could well make the places in this. Small stakes EW are advised.
