Make no mistake, this is a massive hike in class, BUT I think this horse may well be up to making it into the places at least. He was so, so green on his debut and carried his head awkwardly but still managed to win more than impressively. ZABEEL ALKABEIR won in today's conditions, so in a sense, that's not a concern, which is a bonus. With 4 places, must be worth a go at big odds.

TREFOR looks to be a smart choice here. His stats make good reading. 1 from 1 over course and distance, a 35.7% SR over this trip, a 40% SR on similar going, and a 22.22% SR in this class of race. These odds don't appear to take him seriously. Massive player.

I thought MOON TARGET's run at Goodwood was extremely good given that she didn't handle the characteristics of the track. This track will suit far far better as she's already won at Newmarket and Yarmouth which are both flat galloping tracks, like Doncaster! She was just getting going towards the end of the race and I feel she will really flourish over today's 1 mile trip. Sir Mark Prescott is having his best month of 2025 so far (currently on a 33.33% SR) so for me this horse looks the winner of this contest.

CALENDAR GIRL looks the answer to this puzzle to me. Owen Burrows has a brilliant 60% strike rate in the last fortnight and the same strike rate with runners at this track in 2025. He's got a 22.22% SR with his 2-year-olds. Today's jockey has ridden for him twice in 2025 and won once. Burrows' 27.78% SR in this class of race and a 40% SR in September is another bonus! These odds underestimate her chances! Major player.

He's got a good strike rate of late, and his runners over this trip have a really good 22.58% strike rate. LEON DE LUFFY is the selection to side with for me here. His third place on debut and his trainer has a 40% strike rate at this track. He also has had a fair bit of success with his 3-year-olds, has a 50% strike rate when today's jockey rides for him, and has a 29.31% strike rate. September is going well (currently 27.27% so far). Almost certainly, he will have learned plenty and should be seriously involved in the finish.

KARTHALA hasn't quite made himself heard yet but this is his handicap debut over 10f. My suspicion is that he needs to race over this trip or further in time but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Varian has a really good strike rate at this track so strong vibes for me about this horse!

NAASMA looks the one for me in this contest. Her trainer has a decent 20% strike rate at this venue and has a great 33.3% SR with his 6-year-olds. Looks to be exceptionally well treated off an unchanged mark, and given how strong the form of her latest outing is, she has a huge chance here.

BOW ECHO ran out a decisive winner on debut, even having started slowly, and that form has been franked since by the second placed horse. It was an extremely impressive performance given the start and having had just one race you'd have to say he's the most likely candidate. George Boughey's yard is in fine form at present (31.25% SR) and Boughey is 1 win from 4 runs here. His 2 year olds have been in great order and runs over this trip have a decent strike rate also. Huge player.

ROMANTIC SPIRIT has so many good stats not only at this course but in this class of race, on the surface, over this trip. David Menuisier's 30% strike rate with this horse makes him look like a leading contender for this race, especially as he was unlucky in running when 4th last time out.

ETHELWULF is an intriguing contender for the Gosden team here. This yard is 2 from 2 on the all-weather in the last fortnight, and with a really handy claimer in Luke Catton on board, this simply has to be worth an EW squeak! Especially as this yard's strike rate in class 5 races is 37.66%. Can't quite believe this horse is 20/1.

Lope de Vega is a wonderful sire and Quiet Times has won a couple of times on the all-weather, so it's likely this filly will be happy on this surface. Jane Chapple-Hyam has a 1 from 1 record at Wolverhampton in 2025, so that's a decent pointer. Jockey David Egan has a good strike rate at Wolverhampton and is profitable to follow here. His strike rate with 2-year-olds is 17.89%, which I think is pretty good. Add to that his record in 7f races in 2025, and that's a decent combo! I'll be backing LOVERS LEAP for small stakes EW.

It's not often that you'll see a Ger Lyon's runner at 40/1, and I don't believe this horse should be. The trainer has over a 20% strike rate at this venue and has a decent strike rate with his 3-year-olds. It's just a hunch, but I'm happy to back STARSPANGLED DREAM for small stakes EW.

MILTEYE ticks a lot of boxes here. He's 1 from 1 over course and distance, and his 50% SR over the trip reads well. Add to that his trainer's 50% SR in the last fortnight on turf, her 66.67% SR at Carlisle, her 26.67% SR with her 5-year-olds, and her 23.26% in races with this size field make a pretty powerful case for this horse's chances here.

ARCHER ROYAL has been found what looks like a decent opportunity given his breeding and lofty price tag. J&T Godden have a good strike rate around here, and their runners have been in amongst it at the business end a lot more recently, having snaffled over £1m in prize money in August alone. Big chance even on debut.
