Impressed me last time out, and in what appears to be a straight shootout with the Mullins horse, this one has all the advantages. Last time out, the Mullins horse had a claimer on board taking 7 lbs off; today, it is giving nearly a stone to my selection and at a track where my horse won last time it ran.

This lad is my only bet of the day tomorrow. He ran well last time out in his first run over 3 miles before pecking 2 out and losing all momentum. However, he responded well to this and showed a good attitude to stay on. The form from that race is healthy, and this is an 80-95 whereas the previous race was an 85-116. So, while we are carrying a fair bit more weight, I would hope that can be overcome.

Impressive winner LTO when held up to finish like a train up the longish straight at Kempton. Will need to be closer turning in here, but only up 3 lbs for that win, down into a class 5, and with a better jockey on board than last time, I think that there is every chance here.

Impressed LTO when shaping well and quickening nicely to challenge the winner, who just prevailed. Had to challenge down the slowest part of the straight in that race, which won't have helped, and would hope for a win this time.

The horse gets further than this, which does no harm here with the long straight. Simcock has a good record here, and with horses looking to follow a win LTO, Shepherd is always a positive on top. A winner at Southwell a year ago in this sphere, this horse is relatively unexposed on the all-weather, and I am keen to have a go at this price.

Not the most imaginative of selections, but such was the strength of this horse's last run and its progress since joining James Owen, it is the obvious choice. The recent run at Southwell suggested that the longer straight at Newcastle will favor the horse more, and Sean D. Bowen halved the 6lb rise from that run with his claim.

Ran with credit last time out over 2 and a half miles, in which he finished 3rd behind two older horses to whom he was conceding weight. In this race, with parity in the weights with the field and having won over 2 miles in a bumper previously, the drop in trip and being proven jumping obstacles, which much of the field isn't, is encouraging. The forecast rain from mid-morning may just soften the ground up a touch rather than make it attritional, and I am keen to see what this horse does on a level playing field with the rest of its competitors.

This horse won here back in April under Oisin making all with a pretty much unopposed lead and I expect the same here. Put up 7lbs for that he has struggled subsequently to follow up, but having now been dropped to just 3lbs above that winning mark and in a 0-60 here I would hope that he can repeat the trick.

This mare ran very well lto at Tramore relishing in the increased trip to give the winner a good fight as they pulled well clear of the field. The winner fell nto when going well in it's first handicap and whilst this race is full or horses returning to action and as such elements of the unknown I would be hopeful of success here.

Plenty to prove here but with the excellent Kiely Marshall's claim to take into account this horse is running carrying 7lbs less than ever before in it's career and is into a class 5 for the first time. All of it's better runs have been over this trip and hopefully we see that there is still something there.

A slightly tentative selection here as this horses first run here, and Newcastle is vastly different from Lingfield where Turn and Burn won recently. The only other recent AW winner Missimmi did so over 6 furlongs and hasn't won over the minimum trip. Turn and Burn goes up 3lbs for the recent win but that is offset by Ben Sanderson's claim who is in fine form currently. Overpriced in my view.

Good chance here at a nice price. On the clock has the fastest time over C&D at this grade in recent efforts and is carrying over half a stone less than lto (albeit this is a deeper race). Jockey has a reasonable record here and not the worst draw where they should be able to use the rail.

The horse coped well with an equally poor draw at Kempton in a promising first run away from turf, and was only picked up in the last half furlong. The was over 6f and a 0-65, this is a furlong less and 0-58. Currently available at 10s I would be disappointed if we weren't there at the finish.

Big long shot here with the caveats attached. 7 of this horse's 8 wins have come on this surface, and he last won off a mark of 68 at Wolves in February but runs off 57 today if you take Ryan's claim into account. The jockey is going great guns at the moment and has won 3 of his 8 rides round here. It is a competitive race but I am sucker for this type of price......

This horse has come off worst when facing decent summer horses in Daany and Brave Knight this summer and given the lack of such a star in this race and the trainer and jockey's good record around here I would take her with a bit of confidence. Karanelle did well to win at Newton Abbot a week ago but this track will ask for a longer more committed run for home and I am happy to take them on.

This carries the risk that all selections do when having their first run of the season, not least when they are yet to win off their current mark. But this horse has won one of it's two runs after a break, has a record of 1,1,1&3 on the ground it will get tomorrow, loves front running, is at a track that rewards that and this is a lighter race than its last win at Plumpton and at Cheltenham in which I thought he ran with credit at the end of a long season. Currently available at 5's so money for the Skelton horse and a drift would be welcome.

I generally loathe these type of races but this lad won for me in February and was then placed again in April with Ella on board.I am hoping he remains evergreen at 11 and he returned a week ago after a short break in another special circumstances race where he was given an incomprehensible ride from a Spanish lad (they obviously don't use their legs to drive horses in Sunny Spain). Draw 10 isn't great but he has won from 7 and been placed from 8 in the past. Star of St James is the only other horse where the rider has won with it previously, which I think matters in this type of race more than usual and if you are lucky to have a 365 account 16s is available atm, for the rest of us it's 9s and 10s and I am hoping that bigger will be available later.

Torrent lost to Malinka at Cartmel on softer ground than they will face tomorrow and on that occasion he was giving her 14lbs , tomorrow that is reduced to 10lbs and he is the only horse in the field to win a hurdles race on good ground. In addition he actually jumpoed better than Malinka in that race and they will face more fences with a shorter run in from the last tomorrow. This could all be irrelevant if Liam Swagger justifies his favouritism and short odds but other than an ancestral record from older siblings his jumping ability is unknown.

A chance taken here predominately because of the price. This horse has all the inconsistencies of this class of race, but won well here lto and the penalty for that is not extreme. It has as good a chance as anything else and at 10's has to worth a couple of shillings.

Keen to have a go with this mare tomorrow, got the step up in trip well lto and I am hoping that Fern will trust that a bit more tomorrow and have her closer. The likely ground is not a worry and in terms of PRB Fergal is in better shape than the bare stats suggest currently. I wouldn't want her any shorter than the 9s that are around now in the morning but if so then she is worth a spin I think/hope.

Of the three promising types this horse is coming from the yard in the best form and the trainer with the best record of the 3 around here. The price here is also the best value of the 3 and if close enough when turning in I would hope that we could have success.

Having a small bet on this one. The horse has gone well after a break in the past and this yard can ready one. The impending rain and soft ground shouldn't trouble him and he went well for a long way on hurdles debut at Ffos Las in May before tiring a little late on. The favourite here is a good one but too short to be worthwhile and this lad could offer competition.

I was torn between this one and Abraaj but the latter's stable are not in the best of form. This lad found the lottery of the Racing League too hot to handle lto, but ran well over this trip at Chelmsford prior to that and won his only run over C&D earlier this year. He is usually held up which seems to suit at Kempton over this trip and at the price I am happy to have a little go.

Top weight by half a stone would normally rule a selection out, but only this horse and Helm Rock (2nd choice but out of form despite the handlers dynamite form and record here) has any form over this trip at this type of level. It will be some show from horse and rider to pull this off but as the horse is only 4 there is a chance that his best days on this service are ahead of him.

I like Brian for this, in his only AW run he was just chinned by the Gimcrack winner (the favourite in this race was third in the Gimcrack), and in addition the continuity of one jockey for a horse's two year old career can do no harm. Only 4 of the field have run on the AW previously which means I am working from a field of 4 and this one is the best of those.
