He met the second last wrong and lost all chance before staying on again. First-time cheekpieces seemed to be the making of him when smashing Marine Nationale by 19 lengths at the DRF. Improved in the hurdling department when finishing second last time out in a race that has produced winners of this in the past. It appears that this race may have been the plan from the outset and looks to be firing up just at the right time. Incredibly versatile ground-wise and will relish the test of the hill up the home straight. Looks the most likely winner.

Well, Chief and Western Warhorse are the only two before to win this off the back of one chase start, and Kopek Des Bordes may be as classy as both aforementioned horses. He won well in last year's Supreme Novices, boosting his course form. He has had minor issues since dispatching ordinary opposition in his sole chase start. The feeling is that Lulamba already wants further, and Kopek Des Bordes may have him for pace over this shorter trip.

Progressive sort who had strong form in France before moving to Willie Mullins. Will act on any surface and doesn't seem to be pace-dependent. He is happy to settle wherever he finds himself. Still looks to be progressing, which is a positive in a race of this nature, and knows how to win. The choice of Paul Townend, who has had success in this race previously.

Been a revelation since moving to the Henderson yard from Paul Nicholls. Has course form, winning here impressively by 12 lengths. Then went on to win a solid Grade 2 at Haydock by 18 lengths. The trainer doesn't think he is the finished article, which makes the manner of those victories more impressive. Looks certain to go on to bigger and better things, and this can be the springboard for that.
