I’ve been following horse racing for over 30 years now and although it can be very frustrating at times (most times) but when the betting God’s are on your side it’s great. Although 33/1 shots are fantastic, my idea of value is a winner. I like watching maiden races looking for horses finishing off their races well or being unlucky in running to back next time out also handicappers at favourite tracks, back down to winnable marks with a jockey up who regularly wins for the stable. Racing moto, “The Bad Days make the Good Days Great!”

Kateira is the obvious pick here. She has run good races at a higher level but excels in listed class. A repeat of her last run at Ascot, when she was 4th in a Grade 2, will more than suffice here.

Should come on for that run and step up in trip a positive. Stable and jockey in fine form, so must go close.

Even money looks good for Jeriko Du Reponet. I'd prefer a longer trip, but 2 miles 2 furlongs is a good starting point for a horse that kept good company last season over hurdles. First chase, but will have been well schooled and doesn't look to have too much to beat here. A clear round should see victory.

Teddy Blue looks like a progressive horse, and his stable and jockey are in fine form. The selection won well over course and distance earlier in the month and gets in here with 10/6 on the back. Great chance.

Wodhooh has got into this race with 10/7 on her back due to race. Had a great season last year and could be even better this year. Won at Cheltenham Festival and only Lossiemouth proved too good at Aintree. NAP material!

Pic D'Orhy will be cherry ripe for this. The 10-year-old has had a run before this race this year (won race last two years when fresh). Not the right track for Il Est Francais, and Jango Baie hasn't quite won me over yet and will probably be seen in better light later in the season. The selection is 5 wins from 7 at Ascot and gets the nod!
