This is only Kath's Tipple's second run in a handicap off a basement mark of 46. Connections clearly feel six furlongs was an inadequate test last time. With cheekpieces fitted and stepped up to a mile, she might run a better race tonight.

Grey Selkie showed signs of improvement last time over the course and distance off a much-reduced handicap mark. He has been eased another two pounds since and should be able to get competitive if running to a similar level with Rob Hornsby doing the steering.

Lightly raced this year, Supido has yet to strike since his 2-year-old season when he was beaten by less than two lengths in a German Group 3. His handicap mark has been eased five pounds to 95, and this race is a lot less valuable than some of the big pots he has been chasing. If Rajeko is fit, he would also be in with a shout.

Gypsy Nation beat Irish Dancer off a mark of 45 in June who went on to win a couple more races and is a fair yardstick. With just 8-6 and the jockey claiming five pounds, Gypsy Nation runs with a featherweight and from a nice inside draw. He perhaps ought to be shorter than 25/1.

The race Thistle Ask won by 7 lengths last time, in receipt of a lot of weight, doesn't look much with the runner-up returning from a long absence after a fall and wind surgery. Tommy's Oscar made a very encouraging seasonal return at Kelso. He is on a competitive handicap mark and the small yard is in fine form at the moment. He should come on for the run.

One Million Dreams is a better horse now than he was when last seen over hurdles at this track in April (well supported). He has been quite progressive on the flat, winning twice. If that development can be transferred back to the obstacles, then he should be competitive with a certain fitness edge.

None of these have had a run yet this new season, albeit Emma Lavelle's string are in good form. A chance is taken at big odds on Punta Del Este, owned by South West Rail Solutions, who sponsor today's card. Whether he will be fit enough is debatable, but he last won off this mark in a decent race at Ayr last April and could be well treated at the weights.

With reservations about plenty of these, a chance is taken on Griselda. Ridden from the front last time she did not see out seven furlongs and faded out of contention in the last furlong or so. She has won over 6 furlongs on good to soft. Interestingly she beat Nad Alshiba Green last July and it is those connections who now own her. With a mark of just 67 she is potentially well treated on return to turf.

He was 5 lengths behind Venetian Lace - now Listed / Group level - on debut when running green and getting bumped. That race is working our quite well with Our Cody and Amazing Journey going on to win subsequently. With a hood fitted he might take a step forward and make the frame.

Plenty of different ages and abilities on show in this race. Whilst Vince Le Prince has everything going for him today, he is a bit short at 9/4. Lima Sierra is only a three-year-old and did not seem to be at her best at Ayr last time. She has won twice at this track and has an overall progressive profile, suggesting she is up to this small step up into class 5, where all bar two are rated less than 70.
