An appealing race for each-way purposes. Tides Of War has had new connections since last year when winning a 45k handicap at Goodwood in the colours of Fitri Hay. He is pitched into a class 4 today - the lowest value race of his career. Last time looks like a bit of prep race and tonight the services of Hayley Turner are resumed. Not a likely winner, but a chance of picking up some place money.

Alcazan was a bit keen when returning from a break two weeks ago. Previous to that, she met traffic problems. Hopefully, the latest run will have taken a bit of the freshness out, and what's really interesting is this is her first run in a class 4 since last September. She has won over 7 furlongs and has returned to a winning mark.

The market is indicating that only four have a likely chance in this race, which means we have a 50% chance of a place. Dream Out Loud's debut run was encouraging, and he was nicely backed that day. He cost 80k at the Breeze Up sales and should have more to come in a slightly easier grade.

I make this a 1/2 chance, so there is a little juice left in the price on his bid for a hattrick of Gold Cups. Corbetts Cross goes particularly well at the track and is also fancied for a place.

De Kingpin's performance last time at Sandown in a 17k handicap at Sandown can be disregarded. Connections reported he was unsuited by the heavy ground. Conditions are much more suitable today. He is best judged on his second at Newbury in December when the front two were 17 lengths clear of the field. That form has been boosted since.

The seven year old indicated a tilt at this race was worthwhile when winning the Grade 2 Denman Chase last time without being extended. Djelo is probably reaching peak performance now and also has course form, having been 3rd at this meeting last year behind the very smart Grey Dawning in the Turner's chase.

The form of her emphatic Listed race win in December has been boosted significantly, so too her latest win. With Cobden in the saddle, Jubilee Alpha is the selection, where plenty of the field have a low probability of winning.

His official rating has come down 20lbs since last October. The trainer is returning him to 9 furlongs today, a distance he won over when trained by John Gosden. With 3 places on offer, Educate makes for an interesting each way play.

After yesterday's banker, Constitution Hill, went for a shocking Burton, hopes are restored in another Nicky Henderson stable star, Jonbon. He readily put 11-year-old Energumene in his place in the Clarence House at Ascot in January. A repeat of that should make him very hard to beat. He has at least a 50% chance, and evens looks a very fair price.

It's a measure of Constitution Hill's superiority that a really smart opponent like Golden Ace is 40/1 in this race. In ten unbeaten races - eight at Grade 1 - he has accumulated nearly a million pounds in prize money for connections, including when victorious in this race in 2023. His chances of winning again today are much greater than the currently available odds of 8/13.

It's been a good number of races since we last saw Silky Wilkie race in class 3. He showed his well-being and fitness when second in a 45k class 2 last month after a spell in Meydan in January. Of the younger horses in the race, it's difficult to gauge just how good Were Red And Blue is, given he has yet to have a real battle - winning very easily last time at Kelso admittedly against weak opposition. He has been well regarded by the team and won first time on a race track at odds of 8/11. He has only once run in a handicap when pulled up so it's difficult to assess his real mark. If he gets placed it would be no surprise.

Its Hard To Know looked the real deal when winning a novice hurdle in good style at Market Rasen in December. Connections obviously thought so too, when he was entered in the 100k Challow Grade 1 last time at Newbury. That was a step too far and also the left handed track might have counted against him (tended to jump right). The drop in grade and this course look ideal for this lightly raced handicap debutant. With 5 places on offer, 16/1 looks most appealing.

Kitty Foyle has been running in Listed hurdles the last twice, and although unsuccessful has nonetheless run with credit and clearly gets this kind of trip. Her last race on the flat was in August when she won a £20k class 4 at Goodwood. She is only a few pounds higher in the handicap which gives Kitty Foyle a good chance this evening. Heathen was done for lack of pace last time and rates a danger.
