Moonrise

Daily Racing

25 EW

@+6600

Win

305

A tough race to predict with plenty of chances. Boleto catches the eye, but a chance is taken on Andrew Balding's Moonrise, who won her debut at Kempton three weeks ago in emphatic style. She looked progressive, and this race is wide open. The middle draw is of concern. Each-way hopeful.

All Moonshine is one of two Andrew Balding runners, with Stateira in the hands of James Doyle being the first choice for the stable. Nevertheless, All Moonshine has completed a treble and is now being significantly upped in class. She could surprise in the hands of Jason Watson and hit the frame.

Urban Lion was last in the Spring Cup at Newbury two months ago, and a chance is taken that he will bounce back. He won the Lincoln in March and was fifth in this race last year. He could hit the frame again if recovered from his last run.

Snellen

A chance is taken on the Irish raider Snellen to get close. She comes here in reasonable shape, with a third place at Leopardstown on her most recent run five weeks ago. Does well at Ascot with a previous win here and a second place in the Kensington Palace Stakes last year. Could go well and outrun her odds.

Crystal Queen looks a progressive type. She placed second on debut and made a decisive win at Beverley eighteen days ago. Looks like there may be more to come and she could hit the frame despite an inside draw at generous odds.

Rosy Affair comes here in excellent form with one win and a second place in her two runs this year. This is a significant step up in class, but she has been progressing and, with a drop in trip, could surprise and get involved.

Easy Answer

Daily Racing

25 EW

@+12500

This is wide open, and of the outsiders it is a tough choice between the Irish raider The Harv and Michael Bell's Easy Answer. A speculative chance is taken on the latter, who was not disgraced on his debut at Yarmouth, where he placed third in a Class 2 race back in May. The booking of the Italian jockey Cristian Demuro catches the eye, and he could outrun his odds and squeeze into the frame.

I have to admit it is the name that first made me notice this horse. She is named after one of my favourite music albums. Nevertheless, she is still being selected on her form. She is making her new stable debut for Sam England. She previously placed third on her debut run at Southwell last September when with Jamie Osborne. The front two have subsequently not impressed with their recent runs. However, Tago Mago's run that day suggests that she is likely to improve, and her new stable has hit form.

Despite her stable having a very quiet period at the moment, a chance is taken that Evelyns Phoenix could bounce back after her recent poor runs. She had excuses last time out, having no running room, and despite an outside draw could do better now and hit the frame.

Saint Alessio had the benefit of a recent run after a break of 197 days. He placed 10th of 12 at Kempton over a mile and needed that run. Could do better now back on turf and based on last year's form. Each-way contender.

Intervention

Daily Racing

25 EW

@+1800

Lose

Bella Bisbee looks interesting, but she has had only runs on the all-weather since joining Stuart Dixon and one win. So, of the outsiders, Intervention may be the one that brings some value. His recent form is poor; however, he is now dropped in grade and upped in trip. With Mick Appleby in form and Joanna Mason on board, he could outrun his odds and sneak into a place.

Surgeon Commander

Daily Racing

Surgeon Commander has had the benefit of a recent run. He returned after a four-month break to Wetherby ten days ago. He placed 6th of 8 over five furlongs and was never involved in the race. He had two wins on the all-weather last year and is now back up in trip. He is in with a chance if he can transfer his previous all-weather form onto turf. His draw in stall three is a benefit. Each-way possibilities.

Phillip Rothwell saddles two runners in this race: the favourite Fairlander, who has a very good chance of winning, and the outsider Thats About Right. Thats About Right returns after a two-month break and has been running poorly. He was pulled up in his last race at Fairyhouse back in April.
